Am very happy now. Am very very grateful to Mr studiout for all the help you rendered to me in the course dealing with this problem.

Am also very sorry for allowing you go through all the suffering of trying to explain to me despite my inability to grasp the concept.

Am very happy to annouce that I have googled a formula which I will always rely on anytime problem of this nature comes my way.

Let me apply the formula to this problem.

A will do the job a days alone. B will do the job b days alone. They will do it together for 15 days.

The number of days a and b will do the job together is given as

[math]1 \div (\frac{1}{a}+\frac{1}{b}) = 15 days[/math] ... eq (i)

since A did days job for 30 days, we have

9/15 = 30/a

a = 50 days

putting a in eq (i)

we get it that B did the job for (150/7) = [math]21\frac{3}{7} [/math]days

No need to be sorry.

Ratio and proportion puzzles many people, but we got there in the end and you did most of the work yourself.

I'm glad to help anyone prepared to put the effort in.

:)
