Materials question

I have three questions on materials:

  1. What common materials are opaque to the infrared and/or the UV spectrum?
  2. What common materials reflect all visible light except infrared and/or UV light?
  3. What common materials are completely transparent to infrared and/or UV light?

They're all similar, so I thought I'd bundle 'em up in one post.

Note: By common, I mean available cheaply. :)

1. IR doesn`t like to go through Green or Blue lenses, UV doesn`t pass through regular glass very well.

2. no idea off the top of my head (maybe a blonde moment?)

3. clear Quartz will allow UV and IR to pass through.

I may think of some more later

also it would be a good idea to state which IR band, FAR IR is easily blocked by Perspex, but NEAR IR isn`t.

PVC sheeting (the clear stuff) lets quite a bit of UV through also (it`s great Greenhouse material) also for greenhouses is a type of film that you can buy that blocks alot of the IR but allows light (visible) to pass quite nicely, I think it`s Mylar based, but I`m not 100% on that.

Clear Quartz is your best bet for a "pass All" though, as used in Cuvetes.
