I have to agree with that, especially the second part, but make it a few months for good measure.

Once you finish learning Basics, you need to learn about OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) methodology

 

then you have to practice different examples and challenges, this website is a good resource for examples

 

you also need to learn how to do system programming under Windows & Linux, and how to deploy libraries and use them
