231 lm/W is around the theoretical maximum, which is a bit of a squishy target because different profiles are still considered "white"

But it looks like the best Cree has for lightbulbs is 80 lumens per watt... do you know when they will be using the 231 lumens per watt in lightbulbs?

Not sure. There's always a gap between what you can buy and what has been demonstrated in the lab, because you need robust products and manufacturing techniques that allow for reliable mass production.
