how do you black out text in a forum?

Featured Replies

Hey. I was wondering how to black out text when you're in a forum so that when you try to read the page, you just see it blacked out but when you highlight the words, then you can see what it says.

Actually, I was more interested in applying this technique to Wordpress so that I can make tutorials for myself, by blacking out the words so I have to fill in the blank while I'm reading, but still have backup for myself in case I forget.

Highlight it and designate its color as white.

It becomes visible when you highlight the text.

Highlight the next line to see an example of this.

You're really whitening the text, not blackening it.

Because the background color isn't a perfect white,

you can see something, but probably can't read it.

You can use the spoiler tag as well. Type what you want:

Fowl play.

Wrap the spoiler text with

text[/ spoiler] tags, minus the space between / and spoiler.

Edit: Oooooh, it's even cooler in IPS. I like the little "show" button.

Thats great to know. Is there anyway to change the text of the button spoiler though?

I don't think you can.

I'm not sure with this forum provider, but I know there are some where you can make the spoiler equal to a string and it'll say whatever it wants you to say.
