Microscope Help

Featured Replies

Ok I just received an AO Spencer model 1036 Microscope. I can see light through the lens which is very dusty (I am going to the store tomorrow to get some lens paper). But when I put a sample slide on it, nothing changes, I still only see light and dust. It does seem like the light gets a little dimmer because the slide is over it so i know i am seeing through the slide. I dont know if the focuser dosent work or the lens's are bad.

Any help would be great. If you need more info please ask.

Thanks

Most probably your miscroscope has no problem at all. Get help from an experienced microscope user to show you the proper way to get a result.

wow thanks for the help asshole. thats exactly the answer i was looking for.

Well, I am not an experienced user, that is completely out of my field. My experience is only related to the difficulties my daughter encountered about the same problems in her class laboratories. I bought her a Leica DM500 (the same that they use in her university) for exercise.

Here below her advice:

Allways begin with the sample as down as possible, and with the smallest lens (if your microscope has X5,X20,X40, begin with X5).

Put your sample exactly in the centre of the light and rise it till you begin to see about something. Try to adjust with the slow wheel. Recenter exactly the sample , then you can go to the next lens. If you are not centered, you may lose contact. Adjust again, center again, then go to the next lens. Beware that your sample don't touch the lens.

That is not so easy it may seem at first sight.
