Precipitation

Clueless

Recommended Posts

Hey, I am currently studying basic chem, and i'm currently writing a paper on precipitation reactions- However I am uncertain as to what exactly an iconic solid is. Is it incorrect to say that it is basically a insoluble ionic compound? If not, then is it of the same structure as a iconic compound?

Grateful to anyone who can help :)

It's not necessarily insoluble, it just means that it's in its solid form. As CaptainPanic said, and ionic (note, not iconic) solid is a solid that consists of ionic (charged) species. Table salt, NaCl, is one such solid since it consists of Na+ and Cl- ions.
