Has anyone seen the new designs for the world trade center? in my opinion, they both look like crap. especially the one that looks like plain glass. if it was up to me, i would have just kept the original design of the first world trade center, but would have made the skyscrapers larger. i-m out:bs:

http://www.lowermanhattan.info/rebuild/new_design_plans/firm_d/slides/slide1.asp ---Studio Daniel Libeskind.

This is a slide show of their design. It looks the best by far, cause it's the most futuristic.

"The sky will be home again to a towering spire of 1776 feet high, the "Gardens of the World". Why gardens? Because gardens are a constant affirmation of life. A skyscraper rises above its predecessors, reasserting the pre-eminence of freedom and beauty, restoring the spiritual peak to the city, creating an icon that speaks of our vitality in the face of danger and our optimism in the aftermath of tragedy." Cool stuff, but I do have one question.

Would this project vield the tallest buiding? SEARS TOWER IS STILL THE BEST. CHICAGO NIGHT LIGHT.

Although, THINK Design ( http://www.lowermanhattan.info/rebuild/new_design_plans/firm_e/slides/slide3.asp ) project looks very environmentally friendly and is a great example of what future city build up should look like. I like both projects. They are excellent models and if these people can make it look exactly like they propose, then we will have some NICE buildings.

Building huge centralised office complexes for daily commutes is never, ever environmentally friendly. It doesn't matter how much greenery the daft buggers stuff in it to allow architects and politicians alike to employ mind-numbing 'celebrating life' rhetoric.

Well, they can always build a road. Come on...I see why tress and greens wouldn't flourish in the middle of a polluted city, but it's a good start. If you look at the model there are trees and greens extanding from around the building to the river. Looks very nice. Chicago is also rebuilding Soilder Field and they are opening a 12 acre park around the stadium http://www.chicagobears.com/facility/index.cfm?cont_id=33687 (going to be the nicest in the U.S.).

I see that being a brighter future, then towers reaching the sky everywhere you look and ?.?.concreate forests.?.?
