Clonaid Release Details Of Third Baby

A company linked to a cult that believes aliens created life on Earth is to announce details of a third baby allegedly born using cloning techniques. Clonaid company president Brigitte Boisselier is to hold a news conference in Canada, where she will talk about an cloned boy born to a Japanese couple. The company grabbed the headlines last month when it claimed to have produced the world's first cloned human, a baby girl - "Eve" - who was allegedly born on Boxing Day.

But Eve has never been produced or been made available for independent tests.

Yesterday, the vice president of Clonaid, Thomas Kaenzig, was ordered by a family judge to appear in court in Florida, USA, next week after refusing to testify in detail about the claim many experts consider to be a hoax.

The hearing was scheduled after a Miami lawyer filed a petition seeking a guardian for Eve, saying he wanted to protect the interests of the child - even though no one has seen her.

But testifying by telephone from his Las Vegas home, Mr Kaenzig said his company was not incorporated anywhere and said it had kept him largely ignorant about its operations.

He said he did not know the location of Eve.

Update (fafalone): The judge threw the case out of court because it was testified that Eve was in Israel, so the court had no jurisdiction.

I hope it's not true. They may look like perfect kids now but who knows what is in their future. I've had friends with progeria and enzyme disorders from natural births and it's very sad. To know that their chances of problems like these are probable makes this cloning criminal at this time. I just hope they are born really really lucky. They'll need it.

Just aman
