jerryyu
is there some way in which I can calculate the direction the electrons will go after being ejected from a metal as a result of photoelectric effect?
The Foot Tapper
As far as I know, no such equation exists. You'd have to discover one for yourself by experiment. It would probably be done by measuring X-ray emission (electrons emit X-rays when they're accelerated).
swansont
I'd say that no simple equation exists. One can search for photoelectron emission experiments, and see that spectra are published, but the theoretical form (if given) depends on whether the system is atomic or molecular, and what orbital is involved.
