I'm no programmer, but I'm guessing that the swapped out the code that changes the text next to "Welcome, _____" to a static field with "omgponies"

Because if you edit your post it still says your account name.

Inside the templates, <if conditional="$post[username]==$bbuserinfo[username]">omgponies<else />$post[username]</if>

Look in the avatar bin, as I call it. It's part of the user settings. The avatars are alphabetically listed.
