Your SFN Staff at Work

Featured Replies

The spammers have just gotten RIDICULOUS here lately. I thought the membership might get a chuckle out of seeing what their forums look like to the staff these days.

Thanks for all the hard work, guys, gals !! ('ve been there, no the trouble...esp. [at least for this area] the Chinese spambots) Keep it up ! Thanks for giving us a little to laugh at. LL

Are they bots that make these posts?

Or are there really people who spam forums like this for a "living"?

On my blog (on the SFN blog thingy), I also get twice as many spam comments as normal comments. And I have to approve them first - so it doesn't reach anyone. All so pointless.

You can also enable the Spam Karma 2 plugin in your admin panel to save you the trouble of sifting through all of it.

As for their nature... I think many of the bots are human. I've adjusted the registration page several times to make it difficult for bots to register with no human help, so they're at least getting help there. Some spammers also seem able to spam with relevant-seeming comments, whereas others just open loads of threads. So perhaps it's a mixture.

Thanks for making this site possible you guys. It takes alot of work to keep things running smoothly.

Keep up the great work!

I'm just happy we have some bored genius's hanging around to do the modding :D
