I was wondering what anti-matter is and what its relationship with normal matter is any one know?

its properties are the opposite of normal matter (except mass) and cancels it out violently when matter and anti-matter get close to each other.

Yes, in a basic sense, but they both have positive energy — that doesn't get canceled.
