Turn Html on!!!!!

Featured Replies

It's an absolute must for a vB science or maths forum for Html to be turned on in order to make equations more readable.

No it's not.

The sub and sup tags are OK for the basics, we have Latex for more complex equations.

True, being able to render html entities is not worth opening the door for malicious javascript.

I'm not for html or anything (I'm not even sure what it is exactly) Doesn't it have something to do with images? How could it be a secerity risk?

HTML is the markup language behind all webpages.

See this webpage you're looking at? Virtually all of the structure is produced by your browser reading HTML.

The most common security risk is that javascript or vbscript can easily be embedded in HTML to redirect visitors to other sites (which could be anything), write or read cookies, or run malicious commands on your pc.

i still know a few tricks that would be fun(well at least to me it would, but i grew tired of computer pranks :P )........

I like the script that goes:

1 Open CD-ROM tray

2 Close CD-ROM tray

3 See step 1

bleh. one of my favorites is open as many instances of IE as possible thereby causing a memory overflow and crash the computer hardcore ;) there are many others :D

That violates the "Do No Harm" principle, so I'm not allowing myself to like that one.

So some one could make a link that if you click on it it could do just about anything to your computer? I think it's a bad idea.

You don't necessarily even have to click the link, depending on the script used and your browser's handling of javascript.

that sounds great, but blike said *had* latex

should I assume that it is temporarily not available?

as a test I'll try writing the Friedmann equation that uses

the negative pressure of dark energy to accelerate expansion of U.

[tex]\frac{a''}{a}= -\frac{4\pi G}{3}(rho + 3p)[/tex]

didn't work. what did I do wrong?

is there a help place or a FAQ place here at this board

that would tell me what amenities for writing equations are available and how to use them?

Latex is broken for the moment. The forum upgrade squished it.

Afaik blike is working on getting it fixed.

I saw something in math forum from Dave about getting it to work
