boiling water with hands

Featured Replies

can anyone explain what is going on here?

is he using an exothermic reaction or something? the only thing i can think of is that the water contains a slight sodium hydroxide solution which reacts with the aluminium foil.

it could also be a simple metal salt rather than something caustic and harsh.

I will go out on a limb. Or.....it could be extremely focussed Qi(chi). I know this is outside accepted western science, but I think science will eventually support the existence of it.

Yeah, the heating pad must be a sort of exothermic reaction -- notice the tinfoil center to conduct the heat. The paper balancing trick is just that -- a trick. If you listen, the loudness of the snap as the bystander tests one of the sheets is a testament to how thick the paper is. With enough practice, it's just a matter of distribution of weight and balance.

I always find it weird that there are no peer-reviewed articles about experiments such as these... weird, unless it's just fake.

If it were really possible for a few people to heat up some wet towel up to almost the boiling point of water, then surely this would be very interesting... and it would be worth a paper in a respected journal.

I actually did a brief search, using scifinder for [chi heating water] and [qi heating water] but no articles showed up.

Pseudoscience & Speculations is the only appropriate place to discuss this kind of conjecture.

Understood.
