does anyone have any true, amazing stories of science gone wrong?

Atom bomb testing?... "Here - put on these sunglasses to protect your eyes and hide behind that sand bag - we'll be alright! It's at least a mile away."

 

The philadelphia expt.? (maybe mainly fiction, but interesting)

 

When drug testing trials go wrong, or worse when they are passed out for public use and then faults are discovered - like thalidimine? Not a very nice stories though - the consequenses can be horrific and tragic.

 

Sure their must be more interesting and less serious ones, but my brain isn't working at the moment. Just played first game of badminton in about 2 years - can hardly walk or think right now.
