SYDNEY: Artificial 'injectable bone' that flows like toothpaste, and hardens in the body, has been invented by British scientists.

This new regenerative medicine technology provides a scaffold for the formation of blood vessels and bone tissue, and can also deliver stem cells directly to the site of bone repair, say the researchers.

 

"Injectable bone is the first delivery system for stem cells and growth factors that forms a material with the strength of a bone," said Robin Quirk, a pharmacist and co-founder of RegenTec – the University of Nottingham, In England, spin-off company commercialising the technology......

There is one problem Stem cells will not stimulate bone growth or repair.We do not know how tell cells to stimulate bone growth or repair.Well that substance that is soft like toothpaste than gets very hard like bone is amazing.

 

You can use that substance to stimulate bone growth or repair.

I was reading yesterday about extracting "glue" from sea worms to be used for binding the break of a bone until it heals. This isn't where I read about it but it tells about the same research.

Stem cells mainly differentiate into other cells, depending on their environment. If they differentiate into osteoblasts, they'll make bone (and if they differentiate into osteoclasts, they will dissolve/remodel bone).

Well Stem cells is not the only one that will stimulate bone growth or repair.This substance that is soft like toothpaste than gets very hard will stimulate bone growth or repair.

 

So if you brake your bone and go to the ER they will put this substance that is soft like toothpaste than gets very hard and it will be like your bone.

 

The substance that is soft like toothpaste than gets very hard is better substance the bone is made out of.
