i wouldn't relate a troll with culture. i am losing faith in humanity over that article.

I read that last week. It was really good, and I think had a lot to do with group behavior, the desire to weed the weakest elements from one's social pack, and to opportunistically sieze on openings. While (as IA said) it speaks negatively of the "goodness" in our culture, the article was super well written.
