Redheads have a lower pain threshold

Featured Replies

NewScientist is reporting new research being presented today at the American Society of Anesthesiologists which found the redheads typically require 20 percent more anesthesia before sensations of pain are not present, this is possibly related to the presense of the chemical melanocortin in the brain.

Do you think that has something to do with Irish people being able to drink you under the table. I remember an early Star Trek where Scotty drinks with, (I think it was a Romulan) until the guy passed out. Then Scotty went about his business. I guess in the sixties they already new about redheads.

What scares me is the paralysis drug they use so if your not fully under you can't tell them to crank it up. I wan't to be totally out if they cut me open.

Scotty was neither Irish nor a red-head.

They know when you're completely under, that's how they found that some people needed more :P

We can be a little eccentric when we get old. I just don't like needless pain. Medicine has a long way to go. It's still in the dark ages.

P.S. Scotty may be a mutt like most of us. A mixture of peoples. God bless the USA but he still may have that extra tolerance gene.

& yet he speaks with a Scottish accent & is called Scotty.

The Scotts get quite upset when mistaken for Irish.

Romulans aren't Irish either.

And they all have black hair.
