Accidental open mic at G-8 summit

Featured Replies

For those who ever wanted to be a fly on the wall at some major event like a G-8 summit, nows your chance. During a "photo opt", Bush Blair and others were caught talking candidly amongst themselves about the Israeli situation. CNN has been playing the recordings today and I'm sure the other news networks are doing the same.

Very interesting.

GW: "The irony is, what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit."

Not very controversial.

except the profanity perhaps. He's got a point, too. Lebanon doesn't stop Hezbollah mostly out of fear and inability to act, not because it's their policy to support terrorism. Countries like Syria and Iran are a lot more supportive of terrorism. Of course, war with either of these countries is probably not a possibility for Israel at this point, without international support.

I found the way they talk in "private" to be more interesting than the subject of the discussion.

There is a video ( I don't know if its real) of GW drunk with a drink in hand talking to a reporter or something. Quite funny.

I find it interesting to see how people converse behind the scene. I have a strong feeling that the government and advisors has a strong hold on what GW says, and that he is quite intelligent naturally, but they don't allow him to express himself.

Doesn't help that he isnt the greatest public speaker.

You've just got to laugh:

“You eight hours? Me too. Russia’s a big country and you’re a big country. Takes him eight hours to fly home. Not Coke, diet Coke. ... Russia’s big and so is China. Yo Blair, what’re you doing? Are you leaving,” Bush said.

Yo Blair?

Thanks for the sweater; it was awfully thoughtful of you. I know you picked it out yourself.

If I were Blair, I wouldn't know how to take the second sentence of that comment. Was Bush saying Blair has really bad tastes in sweaters?

That kinda sounds like it might be a compliment to the first lady.
