Purifying my Ass. . . id

Featured Replies

The drain cleaner i bought is mixed with some sort of charcoal like substance. Any ideas of a good filter that wont be completely attacked by the sulfuric acid.

Thanks,

Doug

Glass frits and filters work best. Best to simply try decanting the acid from the black impurity.

Clearing that acid will be (almost) impossible. Due to its high viscosity and high density, the particles will not sink to the bottom, so letting it stand for a long time will not help. Filtering will also be very difficult, due to the viscosity, and also due to its corrosiveness.

Strange that your drain cleaner is so terrible. Apparently it depends on where you live, how it looks like. Over here, draincleaner is 97% H2SO4, and it is almost colorless (pale brown). But, I've heard from other people that it indeed also can look like spent motor oil.

What if you were to throw the drain cleaner in a centrifuge? Maybe particles could be sorted out that way. I'll help ya make one out of an Erector set lol.

Anyone who honestly thinks that that comment is witty, clever, or even humorous should consider the irony in even saying it.
