Portable Death Ray :)

Featured Replies

Sitting here testing a old box of assorted bulbs, I came across a 6V 12.5W halogen bulb, when I tested it, I could feel the heat from it!

So I thought I`de have a play :)

I fitted into the reflective cone from an old flashlight and then tried it, made a good beam, so I used an old lens from a photo copier I stripped down many years ago to try focus the beam, IT DID! and started to burn bench within a fraction of a second, smoke and now a little black dot.

It has a focal length of about 4 inches, I`ve glued it all together, and commenced experimentation :)

It`ll light a cigarette, set fire to news paper THROUGH a sheet of glass, and boil a pencil lead in a test tube of water but only local heating :)

I can write my name in the black plastic on a tape cassette without having to open the case, and pop a red balloon on the other side of a polycarb sheet :)

I figure 4 D cell Ni-Cads would easily deliver the 2amps needed to fire up the bulb, and just as if by coincidence, the old flashlight I used takes exactly 4 D cells :)

now THATS a wind-proof cig lighter! :)

I hope for you that your insurance company isn't reading all your messages.

They would make a special category for you. :)

Just give us some notice when you start to experiment with radioactive material ;)

Could you give me your exact location then I can calculate the distance. ;)

Me.... I sold up and moved away from Earth ;)

Central England, the bit with the greenish glow at night :)

I live in Nebraska farm country and would love to zap flies without having to get up. I guess I'd have to paint my walls and ceiling with little black dots so you wouldn't notice the burns

LOL, something I didn`t mention (in case someone thought I was cruel). I zapped a fly on the other side of my front room window, probably didn`t kill it as it was free to fly and had all of outside to do it in, but it soon shifted and I didn`t even have to open a thing :)

Ladies and Gentlemen (if there r any here), this year's Nobel Prize goes to a hippy named - YT. :D

He has dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the hippies all over the world. Although in the forum called scienceforums.net, no one understood his nobel deed.

Dude, if you can confuse a Metal Head with a "hippy" there`s no hope at all for you in Science, It relies largely upon Observation too :)

Ya ain't a hippy cus ya got long hair. I have almost always had hair to my shoulders and was escorted out of the Irvine Love Festival cus I lit a firecracker (too disruptive to all the peace waves).

Keep up the original thinkin YT.
