starbug1
According to Wikipedia Lactobacillus are found in pickles and other fermented foods. You don't see AIDS victims running off to the store to buy Vlasic, so there probably isn't much truth to that claim.
Daecon
Wouldn't the name "lacto" imply that it's sort of milk-based, or am I getting confused? What's the name of the bacteria that needs to be killed off by pasturising milk before it's sold in shops?
tejaswini
there are loads of bacteria that are to be killed off before the milk is sold.for ex:mycobacterium tuberculosis, coxiella burnetti etc. lacto bacillus is the one that transforms milk to curd by acidic fermentation at low pH.
