aommaster
Hi Guys! I was interested in buying the Elegant Universe by Brian Greene, so, I searched on Amazon, and two titles came up: *The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory *The Elegant Universe Also note that BOTH of the book are by Brian Greene. I am interested in learning about the String theory, multiple dimensions etc. and have watched the NOVA release of this. I am just wondering, which one is the book that I am looking for? Thanks alot guys!

RyanJ
Thanks alot for the links RyanJ. the only problem is that at the moment, I would only like to try out one of the books before I move on to the other one. Any suggestions? In that case take the first one I personally started with The Fabric of The Cosmos and then moved to these but it works well where ever you start as he cna write things in an easy to understand way Cheers, Ryan Jones

aj47
Elegant universe is a really good book but it goes into a lot of detail about string theory half way through, describing how the strings interact etc etc. Personally, when I got to that part i ended up reading each page 2 or 3 times as it got far too complicated for me. If you already know the basics of string theory its a really good book but if you know nothing i would suggest reading something like 'hyperspace' by mitcio kaku first. aommaster
I think I know an average amount of the string theory, because I already watched the series, which talks about the string theory in breif. I know for sure that I wouldn't even dare to try and read the book without some background knowledge on the string theory. Thanks alot for that tip though! Cap'n Refsmmat
I think both of those are the same book, so that doesn't really matter. Compare page numbers and such in the detailed listing to see if they're different. I'd also recommend The Fabric of the Cosmos.
RyanJ
I'd also recommend The Fabric of the Cosmos. Same here, I'd actually say (Not I think about it) that it may be the better first step and then read the Elegant Universe as it goes into more detail where The Fabric of the Cosmos goes into some depth but only assigns about 2-3 chapters to strings and membranes Cheers & Good Luck! Daecon
Did you check if both books have the same ISBN number? They could both be the same book.
5614
That's like when I purchased Schrödinger's Kittens there was about 10 different front covers to chose from (all the same actual book), I reckon what you have is 2 identical books.
aommaster
Thanks for that. I didn't check the ISBN number. I'll just make sure on that before I place the order. Thanks alot for that guys!
