Mars

Featured Replies

has anyone caught a good glimpse of mars yet either with telescope or naked eye. i was wondering if anyone knew where to look because im borrowing my friends telescope if that could help me see something where i live

It's been clearly visible from my bedroom window for more than a month \o/

If it's visible from where you are you really can't miss it - you'll see it and think "THAT'S Mars".

well here in sc, it is rising in the southwest and setting in the southeast, so you should be able to get a general bearing on where to look.

a good view should still be possible over the next week though (encouraging for us UKers like myself). I like that idea that Ice caps can be seen with simple 7x binocculars, I got a 500X (theoretical) telescope from Argos (about £80). now I just gotta wait for the damn clouds to shift!

I checked out mars last night... but my telescope is very... fidgety.. only 900x and cheap... got a look for a few seconds before it fell appart.

So huge :)

lol, no such luck here again, too many clouds and rain as per usual. 900X wow, I`ll bet that looks good when it`s in one peice :)

I find it hard enough to track objects with my 500x, there`s a real skill to it, one I don`t seem to have as yet. tonight looks like it might be promising though :)

Also still too cloudy/rainy here (Belgium)

I have an 11.5cm Newton telescope (f=900mm).

300x theoretically but really 150x

This will help us for now although the

"LIVE" thing is so much greater. http://hubblesite.org/
