The Spith 10 Posted October 4, 2005 I was given it for christmas but am yet to start reading it seriously. It's a very long book, and from my initial impressions it lacks the 'page turner' factor the rest of Dawkins' books have.
Bill Nye Guy 10 Posted October 13, 2005 Wow that is one of my favorite books. I have recommended it to most of my friends. I would acutally put this book higher compared to Orgin of Species.

So would someone please copy some of the TOC so those of us that dont have it can get an idea about what topics it covers? Or say in your own words what the basic outline of the book is? Sounds like it's great, and it's about whole history of evolving terrestrial life, from the original soup. But how about a little more grist, some detail about this or that, to give others an idea?
Martin 419 Posted November 29, 2005 I found some links to reviews in various newspapers etc. http://www.reviewsofbooks.com/ancestors_tale/ Here is an ACTUAL long QUOTE FROM THE BOOK a couple of pages i would say. good sample of the writing style http://dml.cmnh.org/2004Sep/msg00028.html
FreeThinker 10 Posted January 15, 2006 Three words: I LOVE IT. I can not put it down, and it is causing me problems with other responsibilities!
Ophiolite 1814 Posted January 21, 2006 It is the first of Dawkin's books where I have not been utterly turned off by his typical self aggrandising, presumptuous, unscientific blinkered approach to his subject matter. In this work he actually uses to the full, with proper and praiseworthy acknowledgement, the research of others. It is a fascinating work and quite sufficient for me to forgive all his earlier hubris.
