Why I saw the moon being ~twice size as usual?

Hi

About 5 years ago, i think it was a morning, I was walking on a small countryside road in north of France

Then I looked on the side and I saw the moon being very huge compared to usually

It scared me, i think it looked about twice the size as usual

I don't remember well, I took no photo, I think the size decreased pretty quickly, i don't remember well

Would someone have an explanation/assumption/idea about this?

Could that have been some reflect/visual effect? I think it was during a cold season

Regards

The moon near the horizon seems bigger; this is known as the moon illusion. There is some debate as to the exact cause - there are several possible contributing factors. One is the difficulty in judging distance to things on the horizon - an object in the sky can be further away than those on the ground and still be visible.
