Cathode ray tube geometrical shapes.

Featured Replies

CRT has such shape, as it has (i.e. funnel), because it is the most optimal for electromagnets or electrostatic deflectors, which bend path of electrons.

CRT for TV screen has electron gun on one end (quite small), and fluorescent/luminescent screen on the other end, with the largest area.

Thanks.

But is it possible to design and construct CRT (Cylinder - closed structure) in different geometrical shapes theoritcally and practically ?

Thanks & Regards,

It is possible to make, but it could not be used for TV screen, as it would not make sense. It would not be the optimal for this purpose.

I guess you could make some fancy design lamp, but the same design would probably be easier to build with LEDs.
