Chloroform knocks you out on a chemical level?

alot of chemials can knock you out. What do you mean "at a chemical level"

This is actually more of a question for the medical sciences, since you want to know how chloroform affects your brain cells.

chloroform acts as a depressent on the central nervous system and leads to respiratory failure (i think)
