best inovative Hybrid rocket fuels

can wood or coal be used as the solid in a Hybrid rocket

if it cant does anyone have any uncommon ideas

you'll see that the first entry (black powder propellants) has charcoal as a component.

 

What you're looking for is a material blend that has a high "specific impulse." Not just the material itself but also the grain geometry is important.

What he's looking for is probably a hybrid rocket system - because that's what he asks about.

That rules out black powder (and I think it rules out all the other systems you linked to).

 

I can't think of a good reason why timber of coal wouldn't work.

I'd be a bit worried about the solid cracking under the pressure and breaking up.
