ecoli Posted January 6, 2017 Share Posted January 6, 2017 Histidine is an amino acid with natural affinity for nickel, so peptides with polyhistadine residues (i.e. introduced with the his tag). CharonY Posted January 6, 2017 Share Posted January 6, 2017 Yeah, there are a lot of proteins that can bind Ni specifically or non-specifically. Running a lysate through a column usually yields you a relatively complex mix of proteins, with your target hopefully being the most abundant fraction.
