Identitfication of bacteria

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have recently tested the air inside my house (3 hours exposition time) for bacteria,yeast/mold.

The petri dish for yeast/ mold is a typical one. However, for the bacteria petri, there's a rather large colony growing, wich i suspect of being bacillus mycoides.

If any1 can confirm this, or give me a hint on what you think it could be, i would appreciate it very much.

can you/ did you grow it on a particular growth medium to select that specific bacterium? Via wikipedia: when grown on a solid medium, the colonies resemble a spiral pattern...if that helps.

There are schemes online - for example FDA's BAMm and file:///C:/Users/Phil/Downloads/identification_of_bacillus_species.pdf. Itlooks like mycoides - have you performed a Gram stain?
