  1. my thought would be that the radiation particles of Alpha and Beta Radiations (4over2 helium nucleus, and speeding electrons respectively) have a mass and a velocity, also Gamma has it's wave-particle duality theorem. if they all have a Kinetic energy then from my understanding, kinetic energy comes from a stored potenial. so maybe the radioactive materiel has greater potential energy, I don't know

  2. What's the problem with having jupiter sized earth like planets?

Even if we did find such planets' date=' what would we do with the info, since we dont have means of space travel sufficiently fast enough to take us to those planets.

In my opinion: pointless waste of money. Maybe we should focus more on pluto. Or develop better propulsion systems.

i'd prefer Europa myself, but i alway thought is was the distance of the gas Giants from a G-2 star. a basic copy of our solar system

  3. oo oo oooo can 3 dimentional frames support say the 11-dimentional Calib yau spaces in string theory or wait can time be calculated out of this using distance time formulas sorry to get off topic, ok i'll shut up now.

  4. I think (And correct me if i'm wrong) that lines exist in a perfect system whether it just be a mathematical equation, or the fabric of space whithout any gravitational disturbances, so your lines question I think is more of an applied question, Is there lines in the universe well yes there are..... but due to the abnormalies of spacetime we don't come across them very often, but they do exist.

  5. it's the same deal with ice when you melt it, it stays at 0 degrees until it is all melted then it rises in tempurature so you have to convert all the potential energy of the boiling water to kinetic energy of steam before it can rise in temurature

  6. I was reading in the paper on special relativity from David W. Hogg and i was hopping it would explain frames, but it hasn't so far, though it has mentioned them plenty of times. Please explain to those of us who go to high school in some hick town out in the middle of nowhere.

    Thank you

  7. I posted the question about the total energy of the atom and someone gave me the formula E^2=(mc^2)^2 + (pc)^2 and it got me thinking why did they square everything then i though they must hve done it to e=mc^2 cuz if you didn't and you took E=(m-m)c^2 it came out to a negative and negative energy kinda confused me. then p=mv so pc at the speed of light is mv(v) or mv^2 or kinetic energy if you will. but it just hit me from math class that if you take the square root of something you get a positive and a negative anyway.

  8. seems to me i just read an excellent book on the subject called "the elegant universe" by brian greene (i would highly recomend this to anyone). strings are one dimentional which gets rid of the problem of breaking down quarksand thier properties are determined by its occilation pattern and vibration rate ie(mass, what particle it is and so on). it also introduces one new particle for every particle we do know about (i'm not sure if this compensates for the "missing energy" in the universe). tears in space is also solved because edward witten came up with the sixth string theory which made them all unified in M-Theory, where you have 2D membranes (p-branes, p is any integer for the number of dimentions) which act as a buffer for the randomness of quantum theory and ties the two theorys together. it is nearly impossible to explain in limited space so if you can i suggest the book it is highly informative

  9. sorry to bore you guys with my simplicity but could someone please tell me if i'm getting this. the E^2 = (mc^2)^2 part is derived from the formula E=mc^2 and is thus the energy of the particle if it was converted to energy at the speed of light and the (pv)^2 is the kinetic energy? if so why cant E=hf be the energy of the photon that comes out of the converted particle. or am i just stupid................HIGH SCHOOL IS FUN!
