  1. Hey there,

I am including this site and your blog as my "evil pick" in our next Skeptic Friends weekly summary. (It's called Kil's Evil Pick because I am also known as "the evil skeptic" due to an essay I wrote that Robert Carroll Links to from his site. The name just stuck. (http://www.skepdic.com/refuge/essays.html). Scroll down...

Anyhow, I just thought I would let you know. I stole the pict (a link really) you have of us posing together. (All of my pictures are still in my camera.) I'll send you the actual link to the summary when it is published this weekend.

I would post an announcement on this site about my pick but I don't know where to do that.

I hope you have conquered your bed bug problem. Don't you know that what happens in Vegas is supposed to stay in Vegas? Bed bugs included?

Anyhow, I hope you are doing well.

    David

  2. I know what you mean. I hope we will do something and start project bent straw before it's too late. Plus, the idea of changing the trajectory of an astroid with a man made and powered gravitational pulling device would be a worthy scientific project on its own, and might well be a handy device to have around even if we determine that Apophis will ultimately miss us...
  3. Here is Neil DeGrasse Tyson explaining how a dangerous asteroid could be deflected: If you don’t mind, I’d like to share a little anicdote about my few minutes with Niel deGrasse Tyson that I wrote for The Skeptic Friends Network on the night of the reception. (I was posting up in my room every night while at TAM.) Note: I am paraphrasing the actual conversation. I wrote this from memory, but since it had only just happened, it’s pretty accurate. I have refined it a bit from the original, mostly for grammar. I hope I didn’t overstep here…
  4. Ah! Excellent to see you here! :) Welcome aboard!

Yeah, I got home alright but with a bed bug problem. I am not sure if I got it from the hotel or if I got it from the basement-apt (the ppl there moved out)...

But TAM6 was absolutely amazing, I can't wait 'till next year to do it all over again :D

  5. You're right. I'm just not very good at impressions I guess...
  6. I'm experiencing a vuja de. I just got the odd feeling that none of this has happened before... (Stolen from George Carlin.)
  7. Hey mooeypoo,

I see you got home alright, are alive and well, and not the worse for wear after TAM6. It took me days to recover, as usual...

Anyhow, I finally made it over here. I became a member and left a post in the introduction thread. (I am now a member of two SFN's.) Thanks for turning me on to this site. Love your blog too!

  8. (No, no. I am not spamming for my site...) Imagine my surprise when I learned from mooeypoo at TAM6 that there is another website with the same initials as ours. A science site at that!! I've taken some time to look around and I can honestly say I like this SFN. Now, being an administrator at another SFN may limit my time for posting over here, but I will try to keep up, use this site as a resource, and recommend it to my skeptic friends. It was great meeting mooeypoo by the way. Cool lady. I am now also a fan of her blog...
