  1. Too bad that Superman is not God, if he only existed I mean. I'll take this kind of God over any other God, if only he existed and was real and not just human imagination. Superman stands for justice, fairness and he fights to save human life in any way possible. He is a far better God than either Yahweh or Satan and I think he owns both of them in terms of physical strength and other capabilities such as with his heat vision and his impossibly high speed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Reeve
  2. This is not meant to offend but I think this is bullcrap. Some people do not need food to live. Prahlad Jani is one example and I'm sure there are many others. He hasn't eaten for many years yet he is still alive so the 'food is energy theory' is bogus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_(esotericism)
  3. Determinism or even yet fatalism, whether biological, chemical or physical (based on physics) is quite absurd in my opinion because it reduces people to unthinking unfeeling machines yet evidence shows that we are more than just machines. We are conscious thinking and feeling beings who possess some sort of sentience. Such a pessimistic view of the world can lead someone to defeatism and spiritual death. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defeatism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiritual_death That is why biological or physical determinism is simply wrong in my opinion, at least for an ethical point of view.
  4. In Richard Dawkins's book "The selfish gene" it seems like Dawkins is adhering to some form of biological determinism. The book attracted great criticism. Many people critizied his book and said that Dawkins' book reflects profound ignorance of how human culture works. They say that reductionist determinism of any kind, whether cultural or biological, is simply unethical and wrong. The critics also say that human culture is not biological. They say that biological determinism is scientifically incorrect in human social relations. They also say that biological determinism leads to racism and eugenics. They further claim that attempts to import biological theories into sociology and cultural anthropology, from social Darwinism of the 19th century to the race theories of the 20th, have a justifiably bad reputation. Now from a ethical or moral point of view, do you agree with the critics that Dawkin's biological determinism is unethical? http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Biological_determinism
  5. I think I have more than just kidney failure. I also have a liver disease and glaucoma probably due to severe malnutrition. I live in Israel which is a small desert country and my country simply cannot produce enough food to feed everyone and we are also running out of clean water too and there is also a very big chance that I will also become blind in the future, due to glaucoma. I am sure this is not the case in the much bigger and wealthier countries like the US, Canada, Brazil and maybe even in Germany. These countries are the world's top food producers. Hell, I can barely wake up in the morning without having severe nausea and feel very weak and then starting to heavily vomit so let alone work for 11 hours every day to earn a decent salary.
  6. I don't think so. I think it's much more than just hormones. I think there is some kind of physico-spiritual or some kind of esoteric energy or force that powers or animates certain people, pretty much like Qi or like the The Force in Star Wars. See Qi
  7. Why are some men a lot stronger, energetic and healthier than others? I mean some men are able to work 10 hours every day, driving long distances and rushing about from city to city without having to eat a lot of food at all and are still strong and energetic while other men, like me, are a lot weaker physically and need to eat and sleep a lot more. I also realized that some men have a pretty high pain tolerance and are not afraid to get injured or even get killed while other men, like me, are pretty sensitive to pain (I have a very low pain tolerance) and are more easily injured. What is the biological or physical explanation for this, if there is any at all?
  8. Why are some people, like Norm Duke, Jason Belmonte and Chris Barnes so good at tenpin bowling while others simply suck at it? What is the biological explanation for this aside from extensive practice, having good instructors and eating the right kind of food?
  9. The defintion of God is subjective and depends how the individual really wants to define him. Just like moral issues about good and evil, it's really all a matter of individual perspective. The current world situation definitely shows that there is NO personal God who really cares about everyone in the same way. And if you don't believe me then just open up a news website. Fact is if there really was a God who really cared about everyone in the same way then there wouldn't be so many sick and starving children in Africa who are just begging for food and medications. If there was an all-loving and all-caring God then she would have made sure that everyone gets exactly what he needs in life and the world would not have been so unjust for quite a lot of people. Instead God just lets innocent children suffer and then die. Evidence shows that God obviously does not care about everyone in the same degree. And he definitely doesn't give a shit about many people (about most people in fact I think). He may care about some people but he definitely does not care about poverty-stricken families all around the world or about children living with serious disabilities, for example. What I also found out is that financially successful people who earn high incomes and have a happy and healthy marriage are more likely to believe in God and be generally happy in life. The same is not true however for individuals who live in extreme poverty or in harsh conditions and are begging for food and other psychological necessities.
  10. Jesus is dead so no Jesus being God can't be true (obviously). Also if Jesus really was God then he would not have allowed some people to stick nails in his body and cause him to feel so much pain. But as they say, let men believe as they will.
  11. The basic mistake that God-believers make is that they assume that the world is supposed to be a fair place but it is pretty clear that the world never was a very fair place and this will very probably never change for the better. In the grand scheme of things humans really are insignificant. In this vast universe, we are probably no more important than insects.
  12. That is because in a closed room there is no sunlight to give him energy. This guy obviously gets his energies from sunlight, much like the fictional character Superman.
  13. You can't know that. There are many things that science cannot explain and probably will never be able to fully explain, not even in 100,000,000 years from now. Besides science has discovered some really strange things like dark matter, dark energy, black holes and invisible particles passing right through the body.
  14. Maybe he is just not like the majority of people. Maybe he is a superhuman being with extra-ordinary abilities. If someone here reads a bit of DC comics then Vandal Savage comes to my mind. Both are immortals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortality_in_fiction A scientific explanation for Breatharianism... http://zentara.net/t5.htm http://electro-denizen.hubpages.com/hub/living-without-food-and-water-Breatharianism-is-it-possible http://www.fruitnut.net/HTML/106_Breaths_People_Hira_Ratan_Manek.htm
  15. I don't know fore sure if he exists or not. But it looks kinda weird to me that God just lets innocent children die off from extreme poverty or cureable diseases very early on while bad and selfish white people get to live happy and prosperous lives and get to live up to 120 years of age. My point is: You can't change what someone else believes in because everyone was born to different circumstances and got to live a different life. You can only set a better example but you can't shove your personal beliefs down someone else's throat who doesn't believe in it or doesn't want it. That is what I don't like about evangelists.
  16. But what natural disasters like crop failures or earthquakes or diseases? Are these things also human fault? Sure some suffering may be human fault but the vast majority of it is not.
  17. ^^I agree with you. If there was a real God then there would not be so many people in horrible pain and in a state of perpetual suffering. The fact that there is horrible suffering in the world and God does absolutely nothing to help those poor people and make the world a better place for them, this to me proves that God simply does not exist. And even if somehow he does exist, then to me this means that he is simply evil or sadistic.
  18. Only Satanists believe that world should not be fair or just. But you don't need to worship the Devil to know that this world is not fair and just. You can also be an atheist to know this same fact about the world we live in. Our world is governed by mindless natural laws which do not respond to human emotions such as hope, fear, pain or sadness. But Theistic Satanists and Devil-worshippers make the basic fallacy called the naturalistic fallacy. This fallacy claims that whatever is natural is actually good or desireable, just because it is the way nature works. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moralistic_fallacy
  19. This argument is crap. How does having faith is an nonexistent God give you any sort of power? It's only fake power. I also found that both God-believers and non-believers behave pretty much the same in real life. So in all in all, believers and non-believers are not really that different.
  20. Theists make the wrong assumption that the world is fair and just. The past and present have clearly shown otherwise. The world was not fair, it is not fair now and probably never will be fair. What I find really funny is that not even theists themselves believe in the stuff they preach. A theist will say one thing but will do exactly the opposite. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110522074731AAmN2Gv
  21. Agnosticism is much closer to atheism in my opinion because if you don't know if there is a God or not then this probably means that there is none. I think that if there was a God then He would let everyone know that He exists and is real and there would be no agnostics or agnosticism for that matter. I also think that there is also too much pain and suffering in this world for a kind-hearted God to exist. And this is another reason why I am an atheist. If God was real then he would have done everything in his power to make this world a better place, especially for those who currently live in great poverty and sickness. There are too many people in the world who have no food to eat and no home to sleep. There are too many starving, homeless and socially repressed people and God does not nothing to help these poor people. He does not answer their wishes or makes the world a better place for them. A belevolent and kind-hearted God would not have let innocent people suffer horribly, therefore I think that God does not exist.
  22. Why do some people seem to be very tolerant to pain? In the news I often hear that some people commit very painful suicides. Are these people actually NOT afraid of painful death and if so what makes them so special that they don't actually feel much pain?
  23. I have no idea and really have no way to know this. For all I know, God could be the bad guy while Satan is actually the good guy who keeps God in check. Or maybe there are actually multiple deities with supernatural powers, some of them are evil but the others are actually good.
  24. I'm an atheist and I don't think atheists are evil or hypocrites. Many Atheists have moral values just like any other group of people. It is just that in the world we live in, there are a lot of bad and greedy people who will do everything they can to make life a living Hell for someone else. Hopefully one day these bad people will become a thing of the past.
  25. How can there be a loving and good-hearted God if so many good people in the world are constantly suffering, are in persistent pain or are in great trouble like hunger, disease, disability, homlessness or persecution? More Than 1 Billion People Are chronically hungry in the World. These people just don't have enough money to buy food. These people are in a state of persistent hunger pains. 100 million people and especially children in the world live and sleep on the streets. These people are called the chronically homeless. Many of them have no access to food (because they probably have no money), safe drinking water or medicines when they are sick. If you are a Chrisitian, then how do you answer that? Would would a kind and loving God allow so many people to suffer or be tormented endlessly?
