  1. Some people seem to have surprisingly high energies and are capable of working extremely hard and very long hours every day, driving many hours by car on narrow and winding roads, almost as if they were cyborgs or superhuman aliens or something. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyborg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhuman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metahuman
  2. I just fail to see how a God who lets entire Galaxies collide will care at all about humans any more than she cares about say, an earthworm. Lets face it guys, because this universe is so very big and so complex, I think that we are a pretty insignificant race on the scales of inter-galactic existence. http://www.space.com/15499-dark-matter-theory-galaxy-structures.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmicism
  3. In my opinion killing is wrong regardless for what cause. I think your whole argument goes that if God created a creature then he also the right to destroy his creation but that logic is flawed for many reasons because it leads to fatalism and to totalitarianism, the very thing that creationists strongly oppose. This sort of personal philosophy violates the equality between human beings by claiming that they are fully at the mercy of some much more powerful being who always controls their life and always tells them what to do. Beliefs of these kind always lead to tyranny and oppression and subjugation of the weak because they violate the natural equality between human beings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totalitarianism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theocracy
  4. Well just for the start, please visit this link: http://dwindlinginunbelief.blogspot.com/2006/08/how-many-has-god-killed.html
  5. I'm not an expert in theology but sometimes I get the feeling that God and Satan are actually one and the same being. I mean in the bible God does many things which look questionable to me like killing the firstborns of Egypt and also punishing the Egyptians when he himself hardens Pharaoh's heart. Also in the book of Job, God lets Job suffer needlessly in life and for what? God also sends people to an eternal Hell and for what? For committing finite crimes during a single lifetime on Earth? It looks to me like God sins alot so I think that God and Satan are actually one of the same person. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_as_the_Devil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem_of_Hell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_problem_of_pain
  6. There is no doubt in my mind that many great things could have been possible if there really was a God but this is simply not the case in the cruel world we live in. For starters, if God really existed he could have created a better world for everyone, a world where there are no starving, sick, disabled or homeless people for starters. A world where everyone's dreams and wishes could become true. For example God could have healed many diseases and disabilities and make the climate better like making it rain much more so the people starving in Africa could have increased their agricultural yields and be able to feed their entire population with food surpluses. And with that being said, I just fail to see the evidence for the existence of any loving and good-hearted God.
  7. A better question perhaps is "why did Jesus die if he was really God"? or "why did God let some evil men stick nails in Jesus's body?" or maybe "Why is dying even a requirement to be a savior"?
  8. God-believers have not yet come up with a reliable resolution to some of the good arguments raised by nonbelievers such as the problem of evil, the argument from poor design and the argument from nonbelief. Clearly if God was real then he could have created better humans which are more resistant to disease, disability, injuries and have better morality. This is what the argument from poor design actually says. And I have to agree with atheists on the point that if God was real and wanted everyone to know that he exists and is real then he would have come down from the sky and made it very clear to everyone that he is real and that all the other deities are fake. But this does not happen because there are still agnostics and atheists, which should not be the case if God is real therefore logical deduction tells me that very likely God does not exist.
  9. I don't believe in either. And even if there is a God for the sake of argument, Jesus cannot be God because he died many years ago and as far as we know, people cannot come back from the dead. My mother always said that she believes in the evil eye but it does not seem rational to me to believe in the evil eye too.
  10. After reading Richard Dawkins' "The Blind Watchmaker: Why the evidence of evolution reveals a universe without design" and "The selfish gene" I realized that religion is very probably false and is just a tool used to control people and keep them in line. And after debating many God-believers, I realized that they are not very honest and truthful people. (See "Are all religions false?"http://www.thekeyboard.org.uk/Are%20all%20religions%20false.htm). My mother is even a stronger atheist than me and she always tells that she does not believe in any God because she has never felt his presence when I'm not feeling sure.
  11. I find some religions to be scary. They create wars. Also people kill in the name of their God. Heaven and hell are two crazy houses. You have to die first to see your God. Give me a break. The only religions that make sense to me, morally speaking, are Buddhism, Hinduism and maybe even Daoism and Confucianism. Islam, Christianity and Judaism however hold no value to me because these religions seek to control and scare people into conformity and do not liberate them from their suffering, like Buddhism does.
  12. I think this video sums up what Christians believe in:
  13. This again proves my point, that God is malevolent. If you see a child drowning in a pool and begging for help and you are quite physically capable but yet you choose not to help the drowning child but instead you let the child die, then this in my opinion makes you not a good person. I think that the same kind of logic can be applied to God. Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then where does evil come from? I think you guys should read up on the philosophy of 'Cosmicism' and H.P. Lovecraft. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmicism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._P._Lovecraft
  14. I don't believe in God and I have no reason to. God never helped me when I really needed help so why should I believe in him now. When I was living on the streets, God never helped me. When I was sick and begging for food and a hot shower, God never really helped me either. Also my mother's brother died when he was only 13. He was very seriously ill and God did not really help him either. So I really have no reason to believe in God because it appears to me that even if (in some twisted way) God does actually exist, he/she doesn't care about humans at all.
  15. I have no such justification. I just don't believe in God. I realized that people believe what suits them, that there are too many beliefs to choose from and that everyone can even invent his own personal belief. http://www.thekeyboard.org.uk/Are%20all%20religions%20false.htm Also Richard Dawkins made, what I found to be, a very strong case against the existence of God in his book "The blind watchmaker". http://www.terebess.com/keletkult/The_Blind_Watchmaker.pdf Furthermore, archeologists have recently discovered what they believe to be the missing link between humans and apes, providing further evidence for evolution and almost shutting the door in the face of creationism. http://www.news.com.au/world/australopithecus-sediba-the-two-million-year-old-boy/story-e6frfkyi-1225851674465
  16. I don't know if it's true or not but according to some religions like Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shamanism, Daoism and Spiritualism it's quite possible to live without food and drink. Wikipedia agrees with me on this but I don't know if this source is completely reliable or not. http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Inedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamanism
  17. I think God is jealous of mere mortals like me in some way. I think God is jealous that I am mortal and he is not, because every moment could be my last. I think that everything is more beautiful because I am doomed. Anyway, I find God's behavior quite pathetic. http://www.quickmeme.com/Advice-God/
  18. Just because science and the scientific method are incomplete doesn't mean that we should go on about believing in things that we cannot hear, see, touch or understand and I'm afraid this also includes God and other mystical beliefs like Satanism, for example and I absolutely reject Satanism. God beliefs are very similar to believing in Superman, Spiderman or X-Men but we both know these beings do not really exist in reality. It's like me going on to believe in power rings but I have absolutely no evidence at my disposal that power rings really exist so it would be foolish for me to believe in them. Also after reading a lot about this topic in Wikipedia I have to say that Atheists, in my opinion, make much more convincing arguments against the existence of God than Theists make in favor of the existence of their God. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existence_of_God#Arguments_against_the_existence_of_God
  19. And there is no such evidence, at least I fail to see it. People showed you why your belief in Gnosticism is illogical but you just refuse to listen to them. If there was an all-capable God who actually loved and cared about people, many things would have been possible but unfortunately, evidence shows that this is simply not the case. The seas do not part anymore to let starving and oppressed people to cross, the starving masses are not being fed by some Godly miracle and in fact, for the past 2000 years at least, no miracles have happened to save people at all.
  20. What you are describing is the famous Bell's theorem. http://www.drchinese.com/David/Bell_Theorem_Easy_Math.htm Einstein (sadly) died before Bell's Theorem appeared. He likely would have changed his opinion about local realism (Albert Einstein believed in local realism) had he known about it. Experiments support the ideas of Quantum Mechanics in this area quite solidly. What you are arguing for is solipsism or subjective idealism which has been disproved. For example here: http://skeptico.blogs.com/skeptico/2008/10/subjective-idealism.html http://www.jstor.org/stable/2011871 You say objective realism is an assumption but so is the existence of the mind. A theory makes more than one measurable prediction and this should apply to the theory of mind as well.
  21. What do you mean by "external"? We are never really outside our body, unless you believe in out-of-body experiences which I don't. But evidence show that the mind needs the brain in order to exist. The mind cannot exist without a working brain. For example see: http://www.strongatheism.net/library/atheology/argument_from_mind_brain/
  22. If my cells are from God then I can use the argument from poor design to prove that this wrong: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_poor_design Richard Dawkins' in his book "In the blind watchmaker" makes a similar argument for the argument of poor design.
  23. So lets say that theological noncogntivism is false because God can be meaningfully defined. But this still raises a few contradictions. I was always taught that god is both omnipotent (he can do anything) and eternal (he can never die.) That leaves me asing the question, "Can God commit suicide?" This is similar to the question "Can God create a stone so heavy that he cannot lift?" Also we have always been told that god is all around us and inside us at the same time so why does it matter for people to go to church, mass, temple, etc? if he is everywhere, why is a church a more special place? why do people gather to worship when they can just do it in their heads while making coffee? Also if God is really everywhere then he must be inside the cells of my body organs as well, including my brain but I can prove it wrong with simple evidence.
  24. That's because he doesn't exist, at least not as theists like to define God. Please read up on theological noncognitivism: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theological_noncognitivism
  25. I tend to disagree with this. If there is a God, then why are innocent children in impoverished nations starving to death then? If the good things that happen to people can be attributed to God's doing then the bad things that happen to people can be as well.
