  1. Radians do work better when you're trying to do something that involves differentiation or integration or something else like that, because you have to bring a factor to the outside of the cos, sin, tan...etc

  2. Oh no, there work would not be pointless. You would still need people to extract the information from the theory. A TOE (which is what I think you meant by GUT, a GUT is just the unification of the strong interaction and the electroweak interaction), is going to contain alot of stuff. And what about approximations and stuff. I would expect a TOE to be extremely complicated, and we are going to need people to find methods that would give good approximations to the true answer and be equally easy to calculate. And then there's the fact that you can never truly know whether or not you actually a TOE or not...there could always be something hidden beneath the surface.

  3. How can they all equal 1?

They can all equal 1 because you can choose a unit system in which time and length and stuff in SI units is a combination of the constants, and you can create a new set of units by setting the combination of constants in one system of units to 1 in another system of units, and it then follows that the constants equal 1 in the new system of units.

Yes indeed. I didn't expect to learn all of this freshman year (though that would be nice). I am currently in AP physics. If you don't know what AP is, they're classes designed by the same people who do the SAT's and they're intended to be like an intro level college course. So, though this class has just begun, it and previous physics work have taught me basic kinematics. Some charge stuff with Coulombs and Volts. Then there was power and watts and joules. We recently started in on deriving graphs of velocity and displacement from not-constant accelerations.

Yeah, I'm taking AP physics too, and, at least at my school, they don't spend more than a minute on a new system of units. I personally like it though, because I think it's a waste of time to spend more than a minute on something as easy and trivial as a new system of units. (It doesn't really matter though, because the class is crap anyways...)

  4. Maybe why we dont hear about these people is because they are sent out to labs to be tested on and dont come back.

Haha or maybe the use their psychic powers to erase all memory of them from every human being they've ever come in contact with on the face of the earth

  5. Yeah, when I hear the words in my head, I can't pinpoint who's voice it has, it is just there. The reason it may get interpreted as your voice is because everyone has there own speaking style, and when I think, that style is present. Like when I speak, I exaggerate my "yeahs" alot, and when I think, the same thing happens.

  6. Well if you can repeat vertices, then you can just find the corresponding adjacency matrix of the graph, raise it to the jth power, and if you look at the intersection of the two vertices in the matrix, it will tell you the number of paths between the two vertices that are of length j.

  7. E = mD

In an earlier posting I wrote that I was prompted to tackle the subject of "Time" by a vague idea that whereas Time is a real factor for living entities' date=' in the case of Universal matters a Time element is proportional to distance and does not warrant a separate dimensional term...

This thought still bothers me. What say you ?

    Elaboration:

Suppose that in E = mC^2 FOR THE WHOLE UNIVERSE the E is constant. This mandates that both m and C are constant. This bothers me. Now, if the right side of the equation is mD (D= Distance from point of Big Ban) then both m and D vary continuously, and the original initial m decreases continuously as D increases with expansion. This appears rational and true-to-Universe, and it implies that eventually nearly all mass will be so diminshed (and also diluted localy) that it would practically be zero by human reckonning.

I hope we tackle this Universe-Size matter first, and consequently examine if/how it is applicable to subUniverse-size matters.[/quote']

I don't know where you get off saying that E=mD...I see now way of justifying this at all.

  8. Yep, perfectly fine to have negative velocity. You just can't have negative speed.

Traveling into the future can only be achived if you yourself and slow down the time around you so everything else around you speeds up, make sence? good.

That's not traveling into the future.

  9. Well, since x mod y = x-y*[x/y] ([] is the integer function), you know that n*[4096/n]=4092. This says that the only valid values are when n<=4092. Knowing this, I used by good ol' Qbasic to get all of the possible values for n. The equation holds only for values of n where n=6,11,12,22,31,33,44,62,66,93,124,132,186,341,372,682,1023,1364,2046, and 4092.

  10. He's trying to make an anology between the discrete of the micro-universe (such as the energy levels of the hydrogen atom) and the speed of light in the macro-universe. His analogy is wrong, however, because he doesn't take into account the superposition of particles.

  11. Is not it funny :D:D:D

As a strange coincidence' date=' years ago as physicist I was involved in the research of water-mineral interactions. And I tell you, you should shut up with your immature comments, water penetrates deep even in the most tough minerals.

    ES[/quote']

First of all, you have to be about 12 years old. No one believes you were a physicist. If you were, then would you please direct to me a paper of yours? And quit posting this stupid crap, it's obvious these are pictures of rocks, and you'd have to be posting these from the computer in your special ed. class to believe otherwise.

  12. Furthermore[/i'] , the human race is one of pompous beings, how could anyone of us have the gall to truly believe that we are infact at the top of the genetic roster?! Please respond with any words that you would like, we are having trouble..

Well, we have the intellect and physical features to invent and produce guns, TV, cars, spaceships, etc...Unless, I see a dog commit a drive-by shooting, we have the better genes.

  13. what the hell is a magnetic wave?

gravity and electromagnetism are completely distict from the nuclear forces.(now' date=' under present conditions)[/quote']

Although, there is a very promising theory that unites Electromagnetism and the nuclear forces, but we are a few GeVs away from being able to test it. But, for all we can prove right now, they are different.

And, GR says that there are gravitational waves, and it appears to be true: http://www.cem.msu.edu/~cem181h/projects/98/TBA/Gravitational%20Waves.htm. And, on an interesting side note, there used to be a class at caltech exclusively about gravitational waves. I don't know if it's still being taught, but I thought it was interesting.

  14. Oops...I meant to click yes...I don't know what I was thinking. I wouldn't think anything would change about a spinning circle, but I know a spinning disk changes...
