  1. Altough i consider it's potential to be rather vague since string theory has bin around for quite a while... but time will tell.. but more interesting is that the other versions like LQG and simple are making interesting progres. Altough i've just heard and read some i donä't consider me knowing much about it.. i bet Jana or Martin is quite much more up to date on these!

Did you mean to say that there is a GUT with the name "simple" or that LQG is simple? Because LQG may seem simple, but it is actually quite hard when you get into things like quantitizing spacetime using Ashtekar variables and stuff.

  2. LQG makes predictions...but we can't test them yet either. I personally don't think any of the current GUTs are correct, but I think it will end up being something along the lines of LQG. Discrete and background independent.

  3. Much public notice and theorys that have "rather easy ways of visualizing" for the generel public  ! My guess atleast why it is so hyped!

That's pretty much it. And because it has the potential to make predictions we can test, we just don't know about them yet

  4. I went straight from Algebra I to Calc BC. I passed to AP exam, and I'm enrolled for Calc III (Multivariate and vector calculus) at the community college this fall. But I've been reading math books for ages, and I've read books on linear algebra, topology, functional analysis, group theory, tensors, spinors (I only know how to use spinors with a (-+++) metric tensor, I couldn't find a book that would show me how to generalize them to any space), stats, and--my favorite--number theory (particulary prime numbers, they seem to fascinate everyone nowadays).

  5. So what do you think of the idea that Gravity is a form of energy, perhaps a high energy form of electromagnetic radiation (higher in frequency than the gamma rays we have been able to detect so far)

There are theories that try to use the fact that E=M (taking c=1), and describing everything as Information. And since QFT says that every field has an associated particle, Gravity would be a form of information.

  6. Does anyone know exactly what kind of evidence and testing is being done for string theory? Exactly what would someone look for to prove such a hypothosis?

Nothing. String theory predicts nothing that we can currently test, nor will we be able to test it for some time to come.

  7. Genetic differentiation deals with the genetic "differences" in a population. Everything I listed deals with genetic differentiation. If you are not referring to genetic differentiation, then let me know.
