  1. Because energy and mass are equivalent. In fact, I think photons distort the fabric of space even easier than matter. Both matter and energy responds to distortion in the fabric of space.

Yeah, I actually don't remember making that post. :S if it were possible to see, I wonder what light would look like in a singularity.

So what makes you think photons distort the fabric of space easier than matter?

  2. Hi, I had been looking all over the internet for this equation that describes everything except gravity. I finally found it but it is on a shirt! :S

    Anyway, please could I know:

    The name of the equation

    What it means

And it put in layman terms

Any other information you have on it would be great.

I'm new to it and it interests me so i would really like to know more about it. Thank you. :)

Edit: Forgot the bloody link! Stupid me. XD

Edit 2: I think it is called the Higgs Field. But I'm not sure.

  3. What about homeopathic porn?

And what exactly are you on about?

In the WordPress admin section, there is a Plugins page. Enable the Firestats plugin. You can then see live statistics (visitors, pageviews, etc.) in the WordPress admin, through the Firestats tab.

I don't mind if you include advertisements, so long as they are content-appropriate (e.g. no ads for porn sites).

Okay, thank you for your help. :D

  4. Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows or has any links to upcoming lectures in the field of physics around the south of England. I am very interested in advanced science although I am only 14. Also, if anyone knows anything about upcoming public appearances from Professor Stephen Hawking then please let me know! He is my idol and it would be so amazing if I could meet him. That bit applies to anywhere around the country.

    Thank you. :)

  5. Now I know what you are talking about.

Still, you never take away by making something that didn't take anything to make.

Physics are "positive energy"(kind of). The thing is that even if matter made itself from physics, the physics are still positive energy, they're not physically here, but I would still call them "positive energy" because they had to come from somewhere

1[physics]+1[matter]+0[what got used for matter to come]=2

    Where is that 2?

Edit: If you're then going to talk about the positive and negative energy in an atom, I don't see why that negative energy counts as a negative. It is physically here, and it doesn't cancel out the positive energy.

I'm talking about the sub-atomic particles and how when the negative and positive meet, they will cancel each other out.

  6.

doesn't that possibly violate the the simple basic laws of mathematics? if x/y = z then yz =x? I mean again if we calculate the tangent of an angle 90? A ratio of infinity? At that ratio the triangle wouldn't even exist!

But you wouldn't calculate the triangle using 0. It is a bit of a weird one. I think it must be [math]i[/math]

  7. Simply, a number divided by zero is 0. This would be because x/2 = y and y*2 = x. So if x has y fractions, then any number put into zero fractions would cancel out the number. Bit hard to understand I think but I think it works.

Edit: I've just realised my error because that would mean that x*0 = y which is wrong. It must be either "i" (imaginary number) or infinity.

Edit 2: This shows how it must be infinity.

    10 divided by 2 is 5.

    10 divided by 1 is 10.

    10 divided by 1/2 is 20.

    10 divided by 1/5 is 50.

    10 divided by 1/10 is 100.

    10 divided by 1/100 is 1000.

    10 divided by 1/1000 is 10000.

So the smaller the number it is divided by, the larger the number. If you divide by 0 then the answer is infinity.

  8. I said to my wife "That's amazing, I've never seen you put the phone down after only ten minutes",

    "How come?"

She said, "It was a wrong number".

You can always tell when a terrorist is shopping for clothes when they say:

Does my Bomb look big in this?"

  9. Forgive me if I don't accept your musing about a drawing on a piece of paper as evidence about the fundamental nature of the universe. Just because something seems to make sense within the realm of our everyday experience does not necessarily mean it can be applied to the whole universe. Terms like "it must have" and "everything" should be used carefully.

Agreed, thanks for correcting me. :)

    That's another dimension.

You have to move perpendicular to your two directions on the surface of the ball to get there.

Analogous in 3d Euclidean would be moving in a direction that is not up, down, left, right, forward, back or any combination.

There is no outside to the closed 2d space on the ball. It's embedded in a higher dimension, but that is a distinct concept.

But even with that, the dimension still exists.

  10. What evidence do you have that this is true?

The fact that 2 dimensions have height and width.

3 dimensions have height, width and depth.

Draw a square on a piece of paper. The square will be 2 dimensional (almost) and the paper will be 3 dimensional. If you look at the square, what is the white inside it. It goes out past the square.

Hold a ball and look at it. If that represented the universe and you were inside the ball, you would look at the inner skin of the ball and wonder what's out there even if it is just space.

For space to be finite, it must have some type of wall or boundary somewhere, but then, what is on the other side.
