  1. I'm pretty happy now myself. I haven't always been though I had deppresion between 8 and 21. My I.Q changes a lot depending on what tests I take but it is always over 120. We wouldn't fit well on the graph but lets wait for the results. I think a lot of rich, intelligent people are happy because they more often than not earned their money though hard work or a good Idea and they can spend their money in a way to enrich their lives. rich, ignorant people are quite often never satisfied or waste their money on things which won't make them feel good about theirselves.
  2. It is a tough one, Intelligence is very hard to measure accurately. I suppose I need to measure problem solving, memory and spatial awareness as an absolute minimum. People may have other stenghs and weeknesses but as an average with a large enough sample it should work as an average. Wealth is very easy to quantify and for happiness a self assesment as a percent is going to have to do.
  3. Partially true but a most intelligent people don't use their full potential and so feel unforfilled. I was thinking about using wealth in the equation and making a 3d scatter graph. This could then be used to look at the corrilations between money and happiness, happiness and intelligence and intelligence and money.
  4. Quite interesting. Have you found a practical aplication for it yet? I like the way it nearly found rome, not coinsidence. Your program could be used to decide the best location to place a delivery service or mabey with a little modification you could use it to calculate the average line of a scatter gragh. I'm sure with a few more line of code you could get it to calculate a lot faster though.
  5. Would any of you guys like to help write some questions for me? once I have about 20 - 25 I'll incoperate them in to an online test. Sorry I'm feeling too lazy to do the whole thing.
  6. equi-manual... I like it. ambi-dextrus (hope I spelt that right) means double right or both right, the exact opposite of having 2 left feet. I've never seen such a bunch of sinister people in my life!
  7. You got there first! I know this isn't very scientific yet but the results are roughly whatI would expect. So far 62.5% of voters consider themselves above average intelligence. and 80% of those would consider themselves are of average or below average happiness. A real assesment test will be online within the week and I'll post a link. Also happiness is subjective aswell but I think I can trust most peoples self assesment for that.
  8. Mabey the girls are pretending to be guys so they don't get PMs from us geeky guys.
  9. Well it's a reasonably sized sample.
  10. Thanks. It looks like about 90% guys from the poll. But it could be up to 99%. The poll only shows the percent from voters. Girls are probably more likely to vote than boys because they are the minority and they want to be counted. Well I guess this proves that our superior Y genes make us beter at science!
  11. Ok here goes. I am trying to find a corilation between high intelligence and depression. We have all heard the phrase "ignorance is bliss" and stupid people are often happy as a pig in sh*t . I have never added a poll to a thread before so I hope this works. I know this is will not prove anything at this stage but it will do untill I devise a decent test.
  12. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the ratio of boys/girls on this site?
  13. that's not right now is it?
  14. I started off on qbasic when I was 8. I think it is a good place to start when you know nothing but it is hard to do anything too advanced. Also try to download Games Factory 1.0 (it's free now) it is very very simple to use and you can make a simple game in around an hour but you won't be able to make convincing A.I or anything like that.

    Yo!

Here is a snipit from newscientist 'Yo' is the word when 'he' or 'she' won't do 05 January 2008 Mark Peters Magazine issue 2637 ADRIAN QUINTERO is a transgender person with strong feelings about pronouns. "Our language really needs words to acknowledge folks who do not feel included in the gender binary," says Quintero, who uses the pronouns "ze" (or "zie") and "hir", because "they have the freedom to mean something other than, or in addition to, male and female". Quintero's mother, Elaine Stotko, shares this interest. A linguistics expert at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, she was fascinated when in 2004 a teacher in her Linguistics for Teachers class asked, "Have you ever heard kids using 'yo' when they mean he or she?" About half the teachers taking the course had also heard "yo" used in this way, leading Stotko and Margaret Troyer (one of the teachers) to research this development, which they have now documented in the linguistics journal American Speech, DOI: 10.1215/00031283-2007-012). They found that from at least ... I don't know how many of you have read this artical but if anyone has a subscripion to NS then could yo post it. Well.... Yo is the Tagalog word for come (as in come here) hence a yoyo. If you see some one you want to speak to down the street and you shout "YO" it effectively means "come here" Any other use of the word is incorrect grammer and punctuation. Besides we already have a singular third person gender-neutral idicitive, it is the word it. It may be offensive sometimes I guess, "is it a boy or a girl" but it does the job. The only thing we will ever need this new word for is self-aware robots and when this happens mabey we should ask them what they want to be called.
  16. Hi everyone! I've been here for a week but haven't properly introduced myself yet. My name is James, I'm 22 and from Bath, England and proof that you can have brains and brawn.

    Chess

http://www.flyordie.com. I'm wrigleyworm. I suck when I play on line though. I find it easier to cencentrate when I have something phyical infront of me.
  18. I shall call him "mini me"
  19. DAM RIGHT! I have hear that quite often in iddentical twins one is right handed and the other is a lefty and that their finger prints are mirrored. I have a theory that all leftys were at one time a twin but are the stronger suviving one. I have no evidence to back this up as yet though. I do everything left-handed exept using a mouse. I can write in mirror writing neater than left to right. From my experiance leftys are more usually more creative, stronger and better in bed.
  20. Interesting thread. It just goes to show the state of socity today. Ignorance is bliss. At some point I am going to devise a test to look at the link between intelligence and depresion. I am expecting and bell shape. people want a quick easy fix as oppose to something worth while. Education is beter in rich contries but natural selection is less important as the stupid and week continue to multiply and socity lets them.
  21. I got a 2.05 but I don't recyle anywhere near as much as I could. I question the science behind the results but I think the test does drive home the fact that nearly everone could do beter.
  22. This reminds me of the short artical in new scientist about alcohol turning flys gay. Lol
  23. Actually this experement has been done on chimps and the males still play with cars and females still play with dolls showing that it is slightly genetic. There are oviously exeptions however but even if males were genetically the same in the brain as females over time we would evolve to fit our roles beter. Mabey but genetically engineering people is limited to the rate of reproduction. I think we will know what we are doing a lot beter by then but 300 years time is only about 9-11 generations and I personally dout it will change that much that quickly. Mabey we will all have some slight changes by then such as immunity but I can't see it being that wide spead.
