  1. You really think the bullet could harm you? Well, there lies the problem. Whether you are aware or not, what is going to happen is not based on your choice or you being unaware of it. It is bound to happen by the rules of Nature. But what is it that the bullet is going to destroy? Is it really you? We need to look at this in a different way; this is not something that can be understood while having a common perspective of Nature. Long have physicist tried to keep the consciousness away from their experiments, thinking that interference of mind would result in errors but eventually they have to look on the result of the experiment and collapse the ‘unreal’ into ‘real’. (For more on what collapsing of reality means, you would need to read the book “Other worlds” by Paul Davies). When you read that book, you will know that everything except consciousness seems to be false. In that case, if consciousness makes everything, then guess who made consciousness?
  2. P.S. A bit of info about Wigner's paradox is given here http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/biography/Wigner.html.
  3. "like.. how can space go on forever,.. ive always imagined space to be a big box of empty space.. but.. sooner or later, won't you reach a stop?.. and if you do reach that "wall".. what's after that wall.??? if space loops.. then what's outside of that loop? so confused :?" Missed to answer this one. It seesm as if you regard Space as "something" but anything that comes up after the wall you are talking about, would also occupy space or volume...so the Space just keeps on going on and on and on and on...
  4. With regard to Wigner's paradox, that shows how mind can affect matter, how many of you believe that it is in fact mind that creates reality? And that the 'real' world does not actually exists.
  5. A joke from my side >The date of the attack: 9/11 - 9 + 1 + 1 = 11 >September 11th is the 254th day of the year: 2 + 5 + 4 = 11 (After >September >11th there are 111 days left to the end of the year...) >119 is the area code to Iraq/Iran. 1 + 1 + 9 = 11 >Twin Towers - standing side by side, looks like the number 11 >The first plane to hit the towers was Flight 11 >State of New York - The 11th State added to the Union New York City - 11 >Letters >Afghanistan - 11 Letters >The Pentagon - 11 Letters >Ramzi Yousef - 11 Letters (convicted or orchestrating the attack at the WTC >in 1993) >Flight 11 - 92 on board - 9 + 2 = 11 >Flight 77 - 65 on board - 6 + 5 = 11 > >David Pawson's response: >---------------------------------- > >Oh my God! How worried should I be? There are 11 letters in the name "David >Pawson!" I'm going into hiding NOW. See you in a few weeks...! Wait a sec >... just realized "YOU CAN'T HIDE" also has 11 letters! What am I gonna do? >Help me!!! The terrorists are after me! ME! I can't believe it! Oh crap, >there must be someplace on the planet Earth I could hide! But no .. "PLANET >EARTH" has 11 letters, too! Maybe Nostradamus can help me. But dare I trust >him? There are 11 letters in "NOSTRADAMUS." I know, the Red Cross can help. >No they can't... 11 letters in "THE RED CROSS," can't trust them. I would >rely on self defense, but "SELF DEFENSE" has 11 letters in it,too! >Can someone help?? Anyone? If so, send me email. No, don't... "SEND ME >EMAIL" has 11 letters... >Will this never end? I'm going insane! "GOING INSANE???" Eleven letters!! >Nooooooooooo!!!!!! I guess I'll die alone, even though "I'LL DIE ALONE" has >11 letters... Oh my God, I just realized that America is doomed! Our >Independence Day is 4th of July(the 7th month) ... 7+4=11!
  6. Lord of The Rings- Fellowship of the Ring No further discussion!! ;-)
  7. Hail! I am boy with deep interest in Natural Philosophy, like to play soccer, tennis, chess...ahh whatever I can. Good to meet you all, this seems to be great forum. BTW I am looking to discuss few things with some physicist out there, so saying hi to Edward. Edward, what is your subject of PhD if I can know. despite being Radical Edward, my name is not Edward. I am a physicist by trade, doing a PhD in some physics thing, although biology is vastly more interesting.
  8. Thanks for all the info Martin! I did not mean to completely rule out Einstein’s conception of space. But I also do not completely agree with it. You know that Space is just an expanse, ever wondered why zero does not affects any other number, when it is multiplied, subtracted or added to them? I am not taking division into consideration because that physically cannot happen. My version might go in like this...Dirac showed that the whole Universe is filled with negative energy that cannot be usually seen and we also have positive energy that we can. Because of this positive and negative energy matter is filling up the complete Space, there is no void left. That would mean that what is curving is not in fact Space, but these negative energy particles. The geometry of Space was put in because physicists were not able to define gravity properly and as you also know that gravitons are also considered negative energy particles, that points that it is these negative energy particles that re responsible for the force of gravity and not the geometry of Space. I wish if I could discuss all this with Einstein himself. It would have been great to hear his version then. Any physicists on this forum?
  9. I kept wondering.. since i was 5.. teachers kept telling me that "the big bang" made the universe.. but i just couldn't understand how the "universe" came from a bang.. so, from then on, i always thought that empty space resulted from the bang... (i learn later that matter/energy.. etc) This is a very interesting and rather the biggest puzzles of all time. Space is the only "thing" that is supposed to be absolutely seperate. It has been there you can say before the beginning of the time and will always be there. It has no end and no beginning, it is infinite in all dimensions. It does not affects anything, niether can affect it. Although the Einstein has described space that can be folded and moulded by matter to produce gravity, I believe we have yet to come to a conclusion over it. And yes Universe ought to have a beginning as the Doppler affect suggests that it was too close in past to get exploded from a singularity and you cannot expect something to be there since infinity whose overall structure has always been changing. <b>This is a great topic to discuss, any comments from anyone?</b>
