    Translation ?

You are correct, it is done in the 5' to 3' direction. The RNA strand is called mRNA (messenger RNA)

    LD equation

The basic equation for LD (linkage disequilibrium), for those who might not know, is: D = P(AB) - P(A)P(B); D = LD and P(n) = frequency of "n" every equation I've come across requires one to know P(AB) before finding D. Is there a method to solving for D without knowledge of P(AB)?

  4. I, at times, have the same sentiments: "What am I doing with my life?" and feel as if I could have taken one of the various routes I had in mind when I graduated from high school. It isn't really regret as it is my being an impatient dreamer on my part. The remedy to this, for me, is to assess the skills that you have learned and possibly will learn and see where it can take you via google and find the things that you could find yourself enjoying. That, and everything the person above me said.
  5. I'm most likely (rotating now) doing my PhD in computational immunology. I am curious as to how feasible it is to do a postdoc in a different scientific field--I was thinking along the lines of mathematical (computational) psychology. I wouldn't think it would be too out there, but it'd be nice to get a feel of the probability of that happening. Any response is much appreciated.
  6. I'm one of the newest numbers on this list I'm a first year PhD student about to declare a lab soon. Research interests include anything that allows for computational modelling. Interests outside of science includes music of all kinds (though I do have phases), books (of all kinds), games, and my beloved crappy piano. Tis a pleasure to meet you all.
