  1. Thanks a lot for the feedback. Although it would be nice to have someone inside of the field take a look at it.
  2. Hi All, I recently received the following e-mail(Via a friend) from a professor at a local university. I am looking for a broader sense of feedback from the community who are involved in the field. The paper is 44 pages long according to the PDF and has a lot of formulae etc. that I do not understand. " The Green House Effect You will recall that Ireferred you to a paper by Joseph Postma that challenges current theory abouthow the GHE is supposed to work. Download from www.tech-know.eu/uploads/The_Model_Atmosphere.pdf This has triggered a furiousdebate among the climate change community which is quite remarkable in itsintensity, reinforcing the notion that there is still a lot that is notunderstood about how the atmospere is supposed to work, and how carbon dioxideand other green house gases can cause global warming. One of the more objectiveclimate blog sites has featured no less than 1 277 comments since a threadabout Postma's paper was opened. Many commentators have said that Postma iswrong, but he has himself participated in the exchanges and defended his casewith remarkable patience and good humour. I recommend this blog to youfor an insight about the doubts that still exist around the very basis ofclimate change theory – the Green House Effect. And this at a time when South Africa isgearing up to host CoP17, and Al Gore is arriving here soon to tell us aboutthe terrible things that will happen if we don't stop emitting carbon dioxide.Coincidentally, I heard on the radio this morning that the seventh billionhuman being will soon be born! http://judithcurry.c...eenhouse-effect Best wishes John" Thanks in advance, Sha
  3. Hi Guys, I've recently received my application acceptance to go and study Chemical Engineering at a local university for next year. www.up.ac.za (Its the BEng - Chemical Engineering course) I finished school last year and will be starting studies next year (I took a year off to really figure out what I want to study because I have many interests). Currently I'm working at a bank doing some IT support and logistics among other things, but I seem to find myself constantly wondering about and reading up on something scientifical whenever I have free time. My question is whether there are any free books or sources of information that I can start reading through that will help me next year with the course? (Its a 4-year degree) I am willing to order a book etc. but would preffer free content as the study fees and books are already costing a small fortune. Thanks for your effort in advance, Shaun
  4. Try looking at your concentration formula as well as the molecular formulae (H2SO4 (H3O+ + HSO4+(Water Solution)) & HCl (H3O+ and Cl- (water solution))) for both of the substances. Its been awhile since I've done those so I'm not entirely sure, as I finished school two years ago and haven't really had a look at those since. If someone with more knowledge on the topic could help it would be great Hope it helps
  5. Hi, I'd like to know if it is possible to build a home-made laser pointer, without opening up a CD-ROM/DVD burner to extract the diode needed? If it is possible then does anyone care to explain how this is done or provide a link/book/source on this? If not, what's the cheapest way of aquiring the materials and/or devices needed to build one. Its for a home-fun-project, so nothing too serious but it is worth noting that this will be my first. I'd just like to know more about how a laser works and have done some reading on the web, but I guess you just don't get it 'till you get your hands dirty.
  6. Hi there, read up for mah name ^^, Prospective Physics Student from SA.
