  1. We are toward the "edge" of the Milky Way. From what I understand, if it were physically possible to create an infinitely large plane upon which to create a scale model of the universe, with the earth being the size of the head of a pin, going sixty five miles an hour away from the earth toward the center of the galaxy on this model would take over fifty years. I'd like to note also that there aren't merely "millions" of galaxy, but billions. I believe we factually know tat there are at least 100 billion galaxies. Which is incomprehensible.
  2. Could you even call it "stuff?" I saw a video with Neil DeGrasse Tyson talking about how "dark matter" is simply a placeholder term for whatever it is creating the gravitational pull on matter throughout the universe that we can't account for. Could it not be "stuff" at all, in terms of some kind of matter, but something completely different? I've heard there is one hypothesis (Neil DeGrasse Tyson talked about this as well) that there are parallel dimensions and the matter in these dimensions could possibly account for that gravitational pull in our dimension. I found that interesting.
  3. I find the concept that history is infinitely regressive.... or came from nothing... to be exciting and wonderful. Whatever the truth is, it is beyond exciting to know the answer is out there. Though it is highly likely I will never know that truth, each step closer is exhilarating.
  4. I'm Phil. I have a great deal of interest in astronomy and physics, though I only have a high school degree and a handful of college credits. Carl Sagan is pretty much my hero.
