Mirage normally cause psychological image, but actually what really cause it?

  Mirage is an airplane.I think when you at a hot place in the afternoon, and the convection of hot air cause it to rise, so the different densities of the air distort the object you are looking at. maybe the others knows. I'm thinking of zebras on a plain. check wikipedia too.
