  1. Snail, you have one of the coolest usernames. Snail snail snail.
  2. When you get on the computer for homework, and end up staying on SFN for an hour without even thinking about your homework.
  3. Mine is a=lw because it helped me get through many years of elementary school.
  4. I've noticed that there are many threads here with people looking for science fair ideas, so now instead of starting a new thread, you can simply look here. If you have any ideas for a science fair project, please post a reply with your idea. Lets try to make a big collection!
  5. Isn't that one of the main reasons why evolution even happens? For example, many elephants are no longer growing ivory tusks because that's why many elephants are killed by humans, for their ivory. And why cane toads are mutating.
  6. Why don't polititions know from experience? There are already some minor effects of global warming, as demonstrated to the gulf coast u.s. residents in 2005. Or does this mean it's already too late?Maybe it's partly our fault, maybe we have to do more protests, or send more letters, or do whatever we can to change the views of world leaders.
  7. I have an idea of how to eliminate some of the greenhouse gases; burrying it. We could somehow suck large portions of air into a filter that filters out non-greenhouse gases. The greenhouse gases will then be compressed greatly for easy storage underground. In a short period of time, the warming should decrease. Above the storage area, parks, buildings, etc. could be made. In my opinion, it's excelent use of land, and will definetly help the economy by providing jobs. Engineers will be needed, along with people to build the storage areas and for maintainance. Maybe, in the future, there could even be a way to convert the gases into clean, cheap energy. Whay do you think of this?
  8. This is good. I hope it starts more rivalry in the space race so more countries will do things like that.
  9. Maybe you two actually know eachother... Bascule, you point out a lot of things I don't realise, that's why I enjoy reading your posts.
  10. But we will be effected later on, and that's why I think we should do something now before it's actually a major problem. Then we will be prepared if something expected to happen gradually happens suddenly.
  11. Did you get this idea off of "The Day After Tomorrow?" What evidence do you have? Why do you think this will happen? Here's what I think: The chance of earth "ending" from global warming is very real. Global warming is causing a very wild climate. Europe will begain to cool down in the next ten years or so (I'll explain later), Africa will face extreme drought, Gulf Coast and East Coast states in the U.S. may just about be destroyed by hurricanes, the rainforests of Central and South America will be destroyed by fire, the artic will mealt, and a lot more. So you may be on to something. Have you ever heard of the Snowball Earth Theory? During this period of time the entire earth was covered with ice. It took millions of years for this to happen. Afterward, there was a huge oxygen supply that the melting oceans gave. The oxygen allowed life to become more complex, and this may be why you and me are here. Is this, or something like it, what you think will happen soon? Please reply, your theory sounds interesting, I just want more evidence.
  12. gcol, your avatar is very interesting.
  13. Does this answer your question? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_%28physics%29 It doesn't tell you how to do plasma, but it gives you some more backround information.
  14. I'm not entirely sure, but the virus may attack the kidney and liver. Try a google search.
  15. Some more articles about the H5N1 bird flu: http://www.livescience.com/othernews/ap_060217_bird_flu.html http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/ap_060213_flu_europe.html http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/ap_060208_flu_africa.html http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/ap_050223_flu_warning.html These articles have convinced me to become worried. I hope the U.S. will have some sort of pandemic plan before the virus changes to allow itself to transfer from one person to another.

  17. I'm happy that someone finally agrees with me about the unusual weather and how the ecosystem is doing bad . Airmid, are you sure the birds are moving to their breeding areas? It's very cold right now and the birds are moving to even colder places. Shouldn't they move north in March when it gets warmer?
  18. I can't give you any answers, but I live in Detroit, Michigan and about twice a day I see geese heading north (on cooler than normal days also). I don't know if it's normal or not because this is the first time I have ever observed it. I'll do some research.
  19. Okay, here's what you do. Slap the keyboard and try to make an acronym out of the letters you hit. Here's mine. jiu-Jimmy's Institution of Underwear
  20. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=endfull Anyway, it might be unhealthy. Does the burp taste bad?

That's true, I have some experience from when I almost went to the hospital. Let's just say it involved a stick and a venomous snake. My point is that you should always research before you try to do something that you may not like the results of later on in life.
  22. The bird could give the virus to a human, and it can spread throughout the entire world. Yes. As viruses try to survive, they begin to reproduce a lot more. To do this, they need to become a lot less dangerous.
  23. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10822627/from/RSS/ Another article about it. Basically the same as the one bascule posted.
