  1. H1N1 pandemic panic is so unnecessary. Every year, a comparable number of people die due to the regular flu, but you don't hear about that in the news.
  2. Ok, So if LHC proves the existence of the Higgs boson, does that mean the graviton cannot exist? Or can they coexist?
  3. Here's what will happen according to me: Before any of the time travelling was going on, Adam had to have a different father than himself, or he would have never existed to do his first time travel trip. Now, when original Adam grows up to be a very bright scientist and travels back in time 9 months before he was born to go and impregnate his mother, his original father would not have the chance and the original Adam would have never been born and would never have travelled back in time. So now, we're at the point where Adam never travelled back in time, and he does gets born, and does gets the chance to travel back in time. But as soon as he decides to go back, he will never have existed. Therefore, it is impossible to travel back in time to conceive yourself with your mother.
  4. Hi there, I'm nowhere near an educated Physicist, but I have a healthy interest in the subject. So according to M-theory, we're all living on a membrane, next to a lot of other membranes, and nothing can escape this membrane, except Gravitons, which explains why gravity as a force is much weaker than the 3 other forces. Then I've also read that the Higgs boson may be the elementary particle that gives mass to all other particles (quarks and leptons) and the W and Z bosons, and that there is, hypothetically, a Higgs field in which our Universe (and if there are any, all other universes) is completely submerged. String theory says that gravitons are closed strings without loose ends, which enables them to "leak out" of our universe into others, and that all other elementary particles are strings as well. The Higgs boson is supposed to be an elementary particle too, which makes it a string as well. So my question is: What is the relation between a graviton and the Higgs boson? Are they two names for the same thing? Or is something else going on?
  5. Just joined this forum. I hope I can get the answers I'm looking for on my questions and give adequate answers to the questions I can answer.
