  1. Hi Cabininthewoods, I'm actually the discoverer of LINES-1 retroposons, back in the 80's. And I was one of the actual people who discovered what these biology textbooks now cite -- that humans, chimps, and all other examined species' genomes have indeed inherited defective copies of selfish, intracellular DNA elements, by inheriting them from a shared ancestor (for humans and chimps, that shared ancestor was about 500,000 granddads ago.) So, Cabin, if you want to deny that an old earth, evolution and/or common ancestry took place, to be fact-compatible you need to presume that God simply made our genes "pre-aged" -- like pre-washed jeans. I have no problem with people believing God made the earth only 6,000 years ago, as long as He made it 4.5 billion years old. Regards, Frank H. Burton, Ph.D.
  2. Hi cabinintheforest and ntdna --

It's actually not a bad idea, cabin, to have old farts like me on this site. Science discussion can benefit from historical knowledge and experience, as well as from new creative insights. Regards, Frank

  3. weird to be on a sight like this at ur age

  4. Unfortunately, It doesn't seem to be taking off. However, you can feel free to make a post regarding it in the General Discussion forum. You'd be more qualified than I am.

    Welcome to SFN.

  5. Hi ydoaPs,

Thanks for your effort to start-up a local SFNCOR reasoning dialogue. Invite your physics buds and if it takes off, we at COR will link to it as another virtual local circle along with Beliefnet Circle of Reason (BCOR) and Facebook Circle of Reason (FCOR). (And let us know by regular e-mail if any of you would like to be listed on COR's formal membership roster -- we need only your name, email address, city/state, and country, as described in our main circleofreason.org website. (Remember, "What Would Surak Do?") -- Frank
