  1. Thanks, great insight, this explains a lot I wonder if you get overcompensation of adenosine when it is no longer being suppressed? I think I may actually get a big boost of adenosine from coffee and then a lack of it later, sometimes with an elevated level again the next day. The opposite of what should happen.
  2. I've seen this in (computer) gaming. Large companies buy more and more of there smaller competition, consolidating into one. Until one huge and several "small" organisations remain, with few employees, and very strong ideologies, which is why they never sold out, making more profit than the large companies because the large companies are so broken and attract no talent, only now being able to exploit and disgust customers again and again. I don't see this as being sustainable and at some point the large organisations operating like this will collapse, theres no such thing as "too big to fail". However even if this doesn't happen, it's already worked to funnel an enormous and growing amount of money into organisations and individuals with strong ideologies, while destroying nearly all those "in it for the money", that wouldn't have occurred if the large organisations weren't so swamped with people who cared about buisness but not the actual domain of the organisation. Is this even more prevalent elsewhere? Is this a good or a bad thing long term?
  3. Coffee, for being awake, focused and alert. I find it a relaxing and creative experience, but I'm subjective, one data point does not a sample make. Research on Google Image for coffee adds exposed some rather odd results, here are the first 10. Stay awake longer. Tastes good. Sex. Variety and Creativity. Wake up. - Original and Traditional. Prevent your husband from beating you. - However coffee commercials I've seen often sell coffee as being a relaxing, social experience. On the motivation when at work front, I imagine if it was acceptable to have a bear instead at work in the morning, many people would become more motivated too, but also be more likely to waste time, discuss non work related matters or try and bunk off. I get the feeling that coffee for many makes even tedious work more enjoyable, "Coffee - Enjoy enjoying things your doing, even things you hate." But I notice this as a contradiction, that with coffee, I can do things that need doing as opposed to things I want to do, and enjoy them, in that I can feel the emotion of enjoyment telling me I'm enjoying the thing, and I believe it, while at the same time, as strong as it was before, knowing that the task is tedious and, for lack of a better word, dumb, but necessary, with a gap in the middle, between the two contradicting certainties.
  4. I hope this doesn't immediately look like spam or advertising, if so I apologise, but nevertheless must publish these thoughts before they become yet again inaccessible. The Island is a highly textural musical piece by the band Pendulum, that I think holds insight beyond the following few easily apart facts, particularly by the time it progresses, a considerable way into the piece: It's a popular piece and therefore will have fans, who like it by accident of finding it appealing. There may be an association (that I do not have) with positive experiences when hearing this piece in clubs. The piece has common musical conventions such as at least somewhat familiar instruments and 4/4 timing. However, I feel there is more, and this goes deeper including: A viscerally, kinetically, tangibly strong drop, although currently much less noticeable or strongly and abruptly relaxing as usual against the surrounding bars. Not only 4 beats in a bar, but 4 bars in a group of bars, a property shared with the conventionally considered to be very different genre of Power Metal. Hold and release, or recursive patterns of attack and decay. Texture or rhythm, on both a 'micro' scale with the subtilises of the organ like instrument, and a larger scale with the exploration of overlapping rhythms throughout the piece. Influence on state of mind that takes more time to flow into than shorter popular tracks allow for, but require more intensity than I can appreciate than from classical tracks. Rarely used although powerful organ "acceleration", that combines the feeling of accelerating movement or moving air such a storm, with instrumentation, contrasting with parts of the track where it is not used, as was also the case with tracks such as "The Human Equation" album by Ayreon. In other ways too, parts of the sound seem to simulate the momentum sensation or falling, either downwards or forwards. Smoothness and chunkiness. Perhaps also related to ASMR (SKSKSK...), Frisson, Flow etc...
  5. lol No cracks in the walls issues with the Tri design, however you have caused me think of another potential issue, sea sickness. Can an ifell tower like design really be as tall or cheap as the masts approach? I'm not sure as the ifell tower was built years ago.   6. It would be very tall for a very minimal price, this must more than make up for loosing some space for wind. I imagine the insides of the masts themselves could be used, for example one for a lift, one for stairs and one for pipes and wires. Other disadvantages, worthwhile given the advantages may then include it being more difficult to heat or cool and weight restrictions for each story. A good location could alleviate both of these potential problems. There is still tension in opposite (3 total) directions on each mast, I'm having difficulty imagining the bending. Even if it's the case can't the cables be adjusted in position and tension to compensate, extra cables could also if required be added between each mast and positions along it's ground-ward cable directly or though small solid intermediate parts. You mention flexibility, this is desirable in the worlds tallest buildings.

To deal with wind the structure could be fragmented, such that only every other floor was used, the wind blowing though the thiner empty stories.
  8. It's a language but must be used with it's IDE or another suitable one, Notepad can't be used. Intelisence in Visual Studio only shows members and the such. Ideas like "extends" in C# go a bit further. However to do sufficiently would require a re-thinking of how programatic elements like objects work. I've never seen an intelisence like system where parameters can be specifed and the system can show you the most appropriate function to take those parameters.
  9. I don't know those systems and would love to know more. I know in order of proficiency best to worst, not order of preference C# (including with XNA), C++, C, Java, Javascript, Ruby, Python, QBasic and Pascal. I also understand some of the principles behind functional programming like lazy evaluation. It's not just a collection of libraries, it abstracts away the idea of libraries, like a C++ program starting with hundreds of #include lines, one for every library the system knows about. This means that when you run a program it will probably have to download or use directly operations newly referred to since the last time the program was run. Depending on preferences set, the dynamicness of the code written in a given program and the interconnectedness of the respective operations in the central library, the language may even sometimes have to briefly pause execution of the program, or some part of the program to download or directly use operations from the central library online. It is also very contextual, being able to produce a list of available operations or even short chains of operations, sorted by relevance, involving any collection of objects where the objects have comparatively detailed meta information to facilitate this. Using these operations syntactically in the form required, avoiding the troublesome sort of ambiguity by storing in the file more detailed information than is made available to the programmer. This is done in the spirit of even something as simple as a byte of memory being not only a number, but having numerous other uses that could change regularly, with some uses being specific to your stated intention for it's use in it's program.   11. Whats more being able to code isn't the same as having a high proficency or motivation with confidence, in all the areas required to create the thing you want, or to be able to handle the buisness end. I too would love to know the answer.

  13. My idea is that a raster image file format could be created where the data for the image was interpreted as instructions in an algorythm language. That way people could encode however they liked, PNG, JPEG or some other means that hasn't been designed yet, regardless of if the recipient's computer has previously known about the algorithm or not. Directed search could also be used such as Genetic Algorithm (genetic programming), A* (it's a search too) or a varient of Monty Carlo Tree Search for this task to create the perfect algorythm for the image being compressed.

  15. Possibly it was not the right time or state of mind to post coherently. Thank you everyone for your replies, this really is a good place for politics. I generally like the EFF, but you'r correct. I can imagine there and other similar left wing orginisations views reguarding privicy. Information gives everyone more power if it is open, it only gives the goverment, or at least law enforcement in situations where they can access a companies private data more power if the data is private. A company can only make profit selling your information in a drought of information, misinformation is easier where there is less of it to check things agains't etc... Goverments find a lack of transparency much harder when there is lots of information about everone who works in the goverment, there actions can be easily computibly compared agains't past events etc... Theres also the utility that where everyones skills and personality are recorded and searchable, not forcibly but because the benifits are so great, then it reduces overheads for all employers enormously. Maybe an emloyer won't employ you if you drink heavely, but another employee who also likes his drink will be able to actually contact you, without you lifting a finger or having to pester hundreds of other employers with several pages of "gimme a job". Then you won't have to put on a front around you'r employer and will be employed where you wouldn't otherwise be, with the total effort by everone reduced considribly. I heard it's going to be an interesting election next time in the US where all the candidates seem supringly human where so much is now known about there real lives. Maybe datasets should be more distriuted or more centralised, more govermentally orginised or more to do with private companies. I'm not sure it matters, or that it's possible for the goverment to be inovative, let alone inovative enough to be a big player in any of this. But any of the many possible ways will do. In England. I don't know if the 'privicy' concept is necceraly right wing here, but it seems to me to serve the right wing sinercism about techoligy, progress and any sort of change at all. I don't think it makes a lot of sence as a concept, at least not one thats so prominent, that must have come from somewhere, quickly and recently, that indirectly effects so much, even things like colabrative content creation or cloud computing seem to reduce in many to such worries at some point. Iv'e seen the libertarian right wing movement that seems assoceated with the US. I'm not keen on the specifics but I admire there attitude that things are not as good as we know how to make them, so we can improve things until they are.
  16. I don't know if there is something more fundermental than politics. Sometimes it feals like that in lack of politics, for example amoung thr disinterested there is a sort of gravitation to the right. Sometimes a good idea comes along and receives a lot of resistance emediatly but nobody knows why this is, even those who are agains't it don't know why. Even amoung those who wouldn't dream of being prejudiced agains't black, or indian, or eastern european don't mind at all about being prejudice agains't the French, but have no idea why. To me privicy is just a word, and a supcious one at that, it cirtainly seems to serve particular political views better than others, almost like political autopilot whenever anything could involve privicy, and as somonone involved in technoligy I believe it is very emowering, the sort of empowering where everyone is empowered and you'r no less empowered because somone else is also empowered. I can't think of anything less helpfull, and more invasive than the mindset that made "privicy" an issue, and contridictionarily an issue to which there is only one valid point of view. And this mindset, and all the other things it represents while all very small are what we sort of think of as human nature, but are supiciously political as well, and cirtainly cultural, and make allmost everything, equally small things but that must happen with the changing world, or just that are good ideas unthinkable, and so creates ever more unnecery conflict and makes comunication between almost any sort of inovator really diffucult, why try when you know whats going to be said anyway to find the one in one thousand, why not make it 2 out of 3 instead.

A very pure idea existed reguarding computation and how to buld an OS that really works, and I've heard about it though a mixture of various sources including information from the premotional materal for Chromebooks and a talk about the idea from the person who coined the turm object oriented. Instead of trying to describe high level properties about this and have a lot of what would be reasonable doubt about it's realisticness, I'm going to show how simple implementation of it could be achieved. I'm a programmer and could implement almost none of this myself, However I don't consider that it would be too complicated for the right group of people. Create a new OS that is currently empty and does nothing, to be coded in assembly. Implement a bar at the top of the screen that can be typed to with a line of browser tab like elements below it, starting the first session with no tabs open. This dosn't need to involve object models, activeX control or the such, this is hard coded just for this task and won't be required elsewhere. Typing a URL into the tab goes to that URL online to fetch the content to be executed in the respective tab. The content is in a portable assembly code, this means that it is one above assembly level code and much of it should translate directly to assembly. As well as portable assembly the content can also include link elements that specify other URLs. The document is read sequentially untill a link is reached, then the link URL is read to the end before returning to the parent content just after the link. So for example a content creator could start there content with a link to an HTML implementation, then continue in HTML. When executed the content would start execution at the top, some patern of execution would occur depending on the code which would read further down the content, beyond the end of the execution part to the HTML content in order to render it to the screen each frame and the such. The portable assembly would be run sandboxed, this mostly means that jump instructions would have to be checked before being executed, content from one tab cannot interfere with content from another. Checksums would also be run to prevent redownloading of content and content be deleted locally if not used for a while. For example for two pages that start with link elements to Opera's implementation of WC3 HTML that were loaded in the same day, the link would not need to be re-downloaded when execution reached it in the 2nd page. To communicate with each other pages can send messeges to a url, in the case of two running locally it would be localhost, they can they include further routing information like a label for the pages they with to send to or a full local address for where they want to be sure only the one page they wanted to send to receives the message, similarly pages can check that messages came from a particular source before continuing to decide if they should be actioned. Therefore a page can be both a server and a client. Other features could be the ability to hide and show tabs, save and open lists of tabs and a full screen button. The reason for hiding tabs is that several pages could be open to run in the background, supply services to other pages and the such, if the user has thease open then they may not want to see thease all the time. The OS would not need such complications as text rendering, fonts, privacy settings, object model, drivers (at least in the conventional sense), system configuation, request permission to, desktop etc... The portable assembly needs to be very low level in order to be able to work. However some exception could be made, for example where communicating with peripheral hardware connected to the PC, to supply a slightly higher level of access, for example to provide a list of all connected hardware and each ones interface etc... As I see it the positives are enormous: For everyone: No more installations. Easy to know whats running. Less devision between coders and ordinary PC users while at the same time being straightforward to use for everyone. Lots of possibilities with cloud computing. A hyper-link could be provided to on-live and it would just work straight away. For coders: Competing branches of HTML. No more complicated configuration of libraries. Any coding enviroment to be used by anyone as soon as it is created. Easily devide any program that contains communicating parts, for example routines, functions or objects, between any number of computers. Refer to anyones low or high level code from anywhere in you'r programs. Easy for your programs to communicate with each other.

From the video I interpreted it more as because the earth has so much more mass than the moon then there would be a point, if the orbit of the moon was closer to the earth, where rocks on the surface of the moon fell downwards towards the earth instead of downwards towards the moon, causing the moon to loose mass. I didn't originally imagine that this lost mass would remain in orbit.
  19. Are you sure orbits due to gravity arn't spirals D H, or elliptical spirals. The moons orbit for example is increasing in distance from the earth. It's star trek that two bodies instead of being held together orbiting at exactly the same distance appart in an elliptical orbit are instead always just a very tight spiral?
  20. So the moons orbit is expanding anyway. But if a similar body exists around a larger one that wasn't, the loss of mass wouldn't cause the orbit to expand but would have no effect on the orbits size.
  21. According to this: If the moon got too close to the earth, some mass would fall off into the earth. Iv'e been thinking about orbits as being somewhat to do with chance, things in non less stable orbits fell into or away from the things they were orbiting long ago and every orbit today is just a spiral. However does this mean that there is some relationship reguarding distance and orbit appart from the obvious? I'm thinking that if the moon gradually got closer and lost some of it's rocks to earth then it would become lighter it's orbit size would then increase again.

  24. I was watching a program on the BBC yesterday where a coupple were looking at various houses to buy. They wanted to spend about £500,000 and get somthing with a few acres of grounds to live there high quality life in a village. I on the other hand have a nice flat, with a bed, desk, lamp, bathroom, comfy chair but no sofa. All clean, tidy, nicely furnished, tuned to perfection and well cared for. Of all the things I have those that are only my own are stored there. This place has just one room and this is on purpose. Sometimes I go into one of my many kitchins in the city center to eat, or walk in my extensive gardens full of parks and other recreational green areas maintained by others far more efficently than I could, whats more there work is admired by many, every little bit making the largest possible difference. Thease parts of my house are connected with a facinating network of corridors which sometimes rework themselves, there are even parts of my house I've never been in I so wallow in excess. In my kitchin I often come spontaneously upon my friends where we talk and enjoy ourselves, sometimes spontaneously or getting involved in each others socities. My study is nickamed "De Montfort University", it is huge and full of expensive computers, efficiently stored and maintained in this one room, sometimes I see my friends there too, I don't wory that they are inside my house, my house is designed so thats not a problem. I think about the coupple on TV living in isolation and expensive scarcity and wonder why.
