Why is it impossible? I heard about a Japanese space probe that was heading toward Mars that lost power and the US wanted the Japanese to steer it off course so it would land and risk contaminating the planet.

Unless... You mean that bacteria from earth wouldn't be able to survive on Mars.

Hi everyone!

I was just assigned a submarine project. We need to design a submarine that will:

1. Float

2. Subsurface Float (Below Surface. Not touching top of water and touching bottom)(Must subsurface float for 5 sec.)

3. Sink

4. Float Again

The project is due next Tuesday (December 16th) and there are very little details on what you can use. I am focusing on using a bottle, coins, and air tubing, and air holes drilled into the side of the bottle. I think I have a working idea but it needs improving. If you have any ideas/hints/comments about this project I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I think you need UCMore to be installed or you can install it. MyIE2 wouldn't install UCMore FOR you.

Some plugins that I made and a Screensaver are on the "My Downloads" page. Not that I want to brag, but you should check out Close Useless Tabs 1.0. It will close tabs that have failed (404, 405 etc.), about:blank, and now windows with final extensions like .zip or .exe (download windows).

I meant that we might contaminate MARS with an Earth-born Bacteria that we then find later and say it was from MARS.

In case you have never heard of it, MyIE2 is a great Web Browser.

I use it and it is quite stable. Even though it is based on IE it is a great Microsft Alternative. Check it out at http://www.myie2.com

After reading a Mars article on the main Forum Page I had a thought.

I fwe build a nuclear plant or anything else permanent cant bacteria infect the planet? If we bring up a piece of non-sterile e3quipment it could place bacteria on the red planet that we later find and confirm as the first discovered like on Mars.

I think NASA agress with me becuase they were recently persuading Japan to keep a craft that was no longer functioning to go to Mars.

I think we should send up only nessecary misions and figure out if there is life on Mars before we accidentally put it there.

I am a newbie to astronomy and this part of this wonderful forum. What is a good telescope for me to start with. I don;t really want to spen a whole lot but want something to see plantets like Mars and the Moon and the Stars. Thanks

I have played around in Visual Basic and can't find a way to open a given Text file and display in the program. How would I go about doing this??

I have Windows XP machine now and before it had a Windows 95 machine. Windows Has become more stable betwwen these two os's. You might have programs crash every hour but I rarely have to reboot my entire machine and hardly ever loose mass amounts of data at once. This in turn saves me time.

It hink that Palm OS is stable too. Sometimes when it crashes and resets I don't even loose any data. Also, The Palm Tungsten T is the most compact PDA ever with its sliding design

I have mixed thoughts. I don;t think we were created through cloding but I think it is possible that Aliens could destroy us if we get too tech advanced (creators or not)

I tried the code but VB says that SND_ASYNC is an "Invalid Outside Procedure. If I delete it it says the same for SND_NODEFAULT.

I copied and pasted the code right from the site you gave me.

Ilearned QBASIC from Mallard's BASIC BASIC Tutorial.

It was really easy to un derstand and do. I recommend it to anybody who wants to learn.
